💫Today, we celebrated our wonderful Year 2 children at their Leavers Assembly.💫

🌟It has been a privilege to watch them grow over the last 3 years from their very first days at Calmore Infants to the confident, kind, resilient, and grown-up children they are today. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved, the friendships they have made, and the memories they have created along the way.🌟

💫As they take their next exciting step to junior school, we know they will continue to shine. We wish every one of them the very best for the future and can't wait to hear about all of their new adventures.💫

Thank you to the Friends of Calmore Infant School who organised our Summer Fayre last Friday. There were stalls, a raffle, games, a water zone, face painting and special visits from a police car, and a vintage tractor 🚓🚜 for the children to sit in. A big thank you to those who gave up their time to volunteer (especially in the extreme heat🌞) and who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make events like this ago ahead 💙

Thank you to WE ARE RUBICON for coming in on Monday this week and providing skateboarding sessions for the whole school.

All the children thoroughly enjoyed learning some new skills and showed great resellience and determination 🛹🤘

This morning, we were treated to a concert from the children who attend iRock School of Music | Rock & Pop Band Sessions music lessons. They were all amazing, as they performed in front of the whole school and their families. Seeing the children up at the front and playing the instruments with such confidence was incredible. You all rocked it 🤘🎸🎹🥁🤘

It was lovely to welcome so many of our families in to watch Year 2's Ukulele Concert this Wednesday.

Despite it being incredibly warm in our school hall, the children put on an amazing performance. They've been having ukulele lessons for the past term with Mrs Constance and they impressed us all with their ability to play the chords C major, F minor and using their listening skills to keep in time with each other and all stop playing at the same time at the end of each song. What a fantastic performance Year 2- well done 🎼🎵🎼

This week, we had Geoff from Tottonians RFC come to teach our children tag rugby. They were taught how to throw the ball backwards to each other whilst running and how to score a try. Thank you Geoff, all our children had a great time 🏉💙

In maths, Year R have been busy learning about sharing- using objects to split them equally into two groups.

They've also been adding two numbers to make ten, using numicon, which helped them visualise numbers.

Encouraging children to lay on their front (for short periods) while writing, is an effective way to build the foundational gross motor skills for handwriting such as helping to build core and back strength, improving shoulder stability and isolating wrist and hand movements.

Last Tuesday was our Sponsored Sports morning. ⚽️🎯
The children took part in a series of events, including welly wanging, parachute games, dribbling the footballs, water relay race, axe throwing and curling.

Thank you to our families who generously sponsored their child. We are going to use the donations towards new resources for the children, including some much needing reading books 📚
