From 25 June to 1 September 2026, the Government is temporarily cutting VAT from 20% to 5% on children's meals in restaurants, children and family tickets to cinemas, theatres, concerts and exhibitions, and admission to a wide range of attractions. Combined with free bus travel during August for children aged 5 to 15 in England, families and young people will be able to enjoy experiences that make summer special, including visits to the kinds of cultural and educational attractions that enrich children's lives outside the classroom.
As part of the campaign, the Government has launched an attraction finder website which allows families to type in their postcode and find participating venues near them to make the most of summer savings. To use the attraction finder, please visit https://summersavings.gov.uk.

Hazel Wood didn't let the rain stop us enjoying International Day of Play! We were creative, resilient, independent and loved working as part of a team. The play challenges involved completing assault courses, playing physical games(cross the river), solving problems with water, turning loose parts into art, exploring mark making techniques, creating toy zip lines and indoor den building.
A massive thank you for all of your kind donations. The Play Team can't wait to share out the new OPAL play equipment.

We are pleased to announce that Hazel Wood Infant School will be taking part in our Walk, Scoot and Cycle to School Week, running from Monday 15 June to Friday 19 June.
The aim of this special week is to encourage children and families to think about how they travel to school and to promote more sustainable, environmentally friendly ways of getting here. By walking, cycling or scooting, we can help reduce traffic around the school, improve air quality, and support healthier lifestyles for our children.
We would love for as many families as possible to take part. Even walking or scooting part of the journey, or parking a little further away and walking the final stretch, can make a big difference.
Throughout the week, we will be celebrating participation and encouraging pupils to share their experiences. It’s a great opportunity for children to enjoy being active while helping to care for the environment.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing lots of walking, cycling and scooting during the week!
