FSC Slapton Ley Field Centre Connecting People to the Landscape and Nature. The Field Centre provides unrivalled opportunities for field courses.

Slapton Ley Field Centre is an environmental education centre positioned on the Start Bay Coastline, surrounded by 200 hectares of Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve. Slapton Ley Field Centre is located in a spectacular location to study and experience the amazing geography and ecology of the coastline, Dartmoor National Park and the nearby coastal towns.

Just over a month to go until this year's Research Seminar! 🌿
Sign up to join us for this free event to celebrate the research taking place on our Nature Reserve. After lunch the Marketplace of Ideas will host local charities and organisations protecting nature.

After the success of the weekend package last year we will be offering a weekend package for £65. Two nights B&B stay and a guided walk around Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve.
We invite people to make their way down on Friday 13th November, with the opportunity to meet and network with attendees. Breakfast will be provided ahead of the seminar on Saturday and again on Sunday morning, before a guided tour of the reserve to showcase its amazing wildlife, and the work we do to preserve it.

We’re looking for a proactive and capable Maintenance Officer to join our team at Field Studies Council Slapton.

What you’ll be doing...

You will take the lead in keeping our centre safe, compliant and running smoothly. This is a busy, active role requiring hands‑on maintenance skills and the ability to carry out manual handling tasks.

As a senior member of the team, you will take responsibility for the overall maintenance and improvement of our buildings, grounds, and essential site systems.

A massive thanks to the youth groups and FSC Tutors which came and gave the NNR team a hand out on the reserve!

The Gold DofE and John Muir Award Participants really got stuck in, helping with the reed bed management and invasive Himalayan Balsam. It was great to see such enthusiasm from everyone in spite of the heat!
