Life is different in the rain season, this year we have so much more rain than usual.. everything is green and unfortunately full of insects, not the nicest time of the year...
I am busy working on the land, now is the time for planting trees.
One more month and it will get less rain and more sun .All in all its a time for reading and going within, much like winter in England ..

Wow its been a while since I last posted here, that's what happens when you live in nature, and don't even know which day of the week it is..πŸ™„

So meanwhile I have finished all my work inside the house, tyling and kitchen building, and now was able to relax a bit, while Nino and Phoebe were here for a few weeks. We spent a really beautiful time together and it was hard to say goodbye, but we know that soon we will see each other again.. ❀️

Now I am alone again, just me and my trusted wonder of a dog Nanook, and every day we have a nice time together.
First comes the work - watering my trees and plants - in the morning, and later we walk to the shop via the beach, where she normally finds some fish that the fishermen threw out, which saves me some money as well as her really LOVING the taste..
Unfortunately afterwards she has the habit of getting her nice fresh smelly mouth between my legs while we walk in the waves, I think she needs to wipe it clean??? . 😝

When we get home there is time to relax in the hammock, a bit too hot for anything else, and then in the afternoon more time to see friends, check my ducks (they have started to lay eggs now πŸ˜πŸ¦†) and whatever else is going on.
My favourite thing to do is watering and looking after my garden, tomatoes etc and having my hands in the earth, touching and smelling all.
It is now 2 years ago that I came here to Abene, fell deeply in love with this peculiar place and found my land, built my incredible house and started my orange farm and garden. I definitely cannot imagine anymore doing anything else but this.. Living life really to my fullest satisfaction, being able to do what I want every moment of the day and night..
Sometimes I still get these moments where I simply can't believe it all, my life here on my land. All that I have is what I am so grateful for, every night I close my eyes thinking of exactly that, and it continues to grow and make me smile. The universe is flowing πŸ™πŸŒŒ

It has been a while, so I thought I share some pics of my beautiful life here in Senegal.
I had been in Spain and England for a few months in the summer, and returned home to Abene in the end of September.
It was difficult in the beginning, as the house was in need of a lot of work, but I finished everything and am really proud of my creations. I learned how to mix cement and lay tiles.
I also built the kitchen out of bamboo, will soon add some more pictures..
Meanwhile outside was a lot to do as well, cutting down the never ending grasses, digging new water holes for my fruit trees, and making another pond for my new ducks.
And I also have a puppy, Nanook, she is such a gem..she loves water and we go for long hikes every day.
Really so incredibly grateful for all that is happening,
I love my life β™₯️

One year ago I had returned from my journey to Portugal- searching for a new home- and had been staying with my dear friend Maggie Kay. Finally, after many conflicting thoughts and feelings, I had given into what had been calling me deep down, and went once more to Africa.
I traveled through Gambia, Guinea Bissau, and finally Senegal to find a small village called Abene, in Casamance,at the southern coast of Senegal.
It was like finally coming home, and immediately I knew that I had found my place!
I stated looking for land, found the one (!), and built a well, a fence and now a house!
It has been one of the most challenging times in my life, having to trust over and over again that evening was perfect! πŸ™
But however difficult and often frustrating things were, I needed to continue with my work, as if driven by some magical force..

Building in Africa provides you with never ending problems and surprises!
From masons who can’t read a plan correctly, turn up, or finish their work, to building materials that had to be found miles and miles away ( no B&Q ! ) every day was full of difficulties.
But after a few months it was done, just in time for my precious daughter Phoebe Kingdon to arrive in November.

πŸŒˆπŸ™πŸŒˆπŸ™πŸŒˆπŸ™πŸŒˆπŸ™πŸŒˆπŸ™πŸŒˆπŸ™πŸŒˆ

All this happened for one reason only, and that was that I was doing and following what I love: to live with the nature, my ultimate dream.
I now know that this is the one and only way to find bliss, and I try to practice it every day.
I am truly grateful to live my life in peace and tranquility 🌴🌳🌴

Am now on the ferry back to England! β›΄
😊🌞😊
Witnessed a beautiful sunrise this morning, I had literally been driven out of my van by the cold, and a walk by the beach made me warm again.
Definitely time to have a proper home again, after two months of traveling... drove 4,500 miles with my trusted van, from the north to the south and back again.
Tinker and me had an amazing time, making lots of friends and stopping wherever we felt was a good place.
But as I wasn't exactly on a holiday, but trying to check out different areas for my possibly new home, it was also a bit difficult at times. The tragedies that occurred through the many fires that happened were very much on everyone's mind.
I will now have time to gather my thoughts and dive deeper into myself, meditate and go for walks in the beautiful nature. I so much look forward to my time at my new home in Cornwall, with my incredible friends Maggie and Pat just round the corner!
How all this has worked out, is a complete miracle, thank you UNIVERSE!

I decided to go back to England for some time, as much as I love Portugal, it is definitely a challenge to be - in the long run- permanently living there all by myself.
Having met many wonderful people and seen the way how they live in this country has taught me much. Most of them- the ones living on their lands, like I wanted to- are either with a partner or kids. The ones who are alone, love to be by themselves.
I, however, need people around me. If I had someone with me, it would make all the difference..
I also feel that I want to spend some more time with my family, so possibly just traveling in the winter when it's cold might be the best.
So I left Portugal 2 days ago and made my way back towards France and then home on the 26.10.
While on my journey back, my beautiful friend Maggie suggested that I could live in the small house next to her, ( near Saltash , Cornwall, 45 minutes from Totnes ) which will be wonderful as we can see each other more often ( yes!!!!! ) and we can support each other in this time of our lives! 🌞I can give her massages and help with cooking my delicious soups etc, and she will be looking to support me with her wisdom and love as well as spreading word that I am about ( massage and coaching clients )
It took us about 3 hours to come up with the most brilliant plan and it felt to me like it had always meant to happen like this...
It is really incredible how all this is coming to happen, I needed a change and here it is!
I absolutely can't wait to be back , to have my little home, my space, my very much needed peace and quiet, and my beautiful beyond words friend Maggie and wonderful husband Pat near me.
We are all very excited! I will of course come to Totnes often and see everyone there too.
My head is still spinning with all the changes, but I totally trust this is a complete miracle and I am incredibly grateful to the universe to have been answering my calls! πŸ™πŸŒˆπŸ™

Right , it's time to share a bit what has been going on , its bee a while!
I had been to the Alentejo, and although I absolutely loved it there, the land in the areas nearer the sea are too expensive for me to consider. That area is very desired, as it is cooler ( max 35 degrees in the summer but mostly a bit less ) and has beautiful vegetation.. and beaches!!
Further inland is more cheaper land but it is very very hot ( 45 degrees or more !) and water, like wells are a problem, most people go for boreholes, but they are expensive and need an electric pump, which changes everything. The land there is also less beautiful, very barren and dry.
I drove over the mountains to the area where I had originally entered the country, ( near Penamacor) , I remembered it to be very beautiful, no pines, just cork and olives, which means less risk of fires. I was shown several different lands, and spent a night at one of them.
That land ticked all the boxes: well with water in it, a garden, already worked on, and enough land to do my cob house and have space for guest accommodation. It also had a small house which was in perfect condition.
The only downside was that it was a bit far from the next village, basically isolated.
While I was suddenly confronted with this possibility, that I could live there, I got completely overwhelmed with very intense fears of loneliness. I kept pondering the situation and finally arrived at the conclusion that it was not the right place.
At the same time my whole world collapsed, as I asked myself how I could possibly live all by myself in a strange country, without any very good friends around me?
So many people who live here are either couples or families, so what would I do by myself?
I had of course been thinking about this many times before, thinking that I love my own company and would certainly find some friends at some stage, I did not let this stop me.
Now however I feel very different, I am very aware that I need some friends around me, before I buy a land somewhere.
So yesterday I spent a night in Serta, with my friend Nicola who I had met while waiting for my wing mirror some weeks ago.
I could only stay for one night, the fire was too disturbing and the ashes , smoke kept me awake all night.
So I left again this morning and am now near Santarem, which is again a very different area,
no huge pine forests here and a beautiful stretch of land by the river Tejo.
Will be sending some more pictures soon!

This bigger picture was at the large lake in Santa Clara, where we had spent 2 nights. Tinker was watching the many small fish jump out of the water, early in the morning !
The next night we stayed in the old spot, near Garvao, and now we came to this other lake nearby, as you can see there is not much water in it!
Still a nice refreshing swim for Tinker, I didn't feel like it as the water was a bit too murky.
At the moment I am getting a feel for the different areas. I really like it around here, it has a wild feel to it. Although some areas, like this particular place, are very dry.
It is very hot, definitely in the 30s. Something to consider, because this is not the hottest time of the year.
It is cooler towards the coast, but at the same time also more expensive, so I will probably find my land somewhere in between.
I keep visualising my ideal place, I know it is there right now waiting for me 😁🌻😁

I am hungry!!!
We drove around for many hours to get to this beautiful place, it is so amazing to have the van and be able to just stop where I feel like it..
We are in the Alentejo, near Odemira.
Barragem de Santa Clara.
So grateful to have made more beautiful friends here, we are united in our quest to find a beautiful home 🏑
Have been receiving so much support and know everything will be good! πŸ™β€οΈπŸ™

On the road again! Got mirror yesterday, fixed it and now on my way to the Alentejo...
it is very different here from where I was, you see many cork and olive trees. All looks very beautiful definitely, am excited of what will happen next.
I had an amazing time, the last two weeks were certainly incredible, I learned lots and looked at a land, which was beautiful but just a bit small.
Will stay with master cobber Veronica for the next days, looking forward to learning the skills and finding out about the laws etc.
Tinker is not so sure about us on the road again, she- like myself- really loved it at Roy and Susan's place, thank you so much guys!!!
But now it's time to move on .. x 🌻
More pictures soon ###

Having a funtastic time at Roy and Susan's retreat, going for long walks in the forest in the morning, and gardening, cooking and swimming in the afternoon..
Tinker absolutely loves it here, and we will both be sad to leave once my wing mirror arrives (😳 - yes I knocked it off! )!
But we know we can always return, we have made amazing friends !
While here , I had some good talks with various people who also live here, and seem many interesting areas.
Mostly it is about finding the right place with the right people, and I will keep driving to many places where I know people through fb( Portugal page).
This is essential for me,only by being in an area and connecting with the people, can I find my true place.
Enjoying my time here to the full, soon we will be going! ❀️🌻❀️🌻❀️🌻❀️

Being in one place really has it's benefits, feeling into it, letting it touch me..
I am starting my day with a walk in the forest, followed by watering the garden. Later on it is getting too hot so Tinker and me are having a bit of a break in the house , time to catch up with messages etc.
I have been feeling a very strong sense of
"saying goodbye" to my old life.
It feels like I don't have a home the way I knew it before. I now live in my van, and even if - like right now- I am visiting a lovely couple that is living here in Portugal , I am on my journey to my own place, my new home, my new life.
It is definitely a big step, and I am reminding myself to be grateful for everything that I have right now, to trust that everything is perfect the way it happens.
And when making decisions, to be mindful of what the reasons are, that are driving me.
To follow my true dream and not be thrown off track by fears which stem from negative beliefs.
I am confronted by a lot of those, mostly around money, and I have to remain watchful not to listen to those little voices telling lies.
I am so grateful to my wonderful teacher Maggie, who has always been a rock!
She thought me to ask myself where my thoughts came from- fear or love.
Choosing love is the only way forward!
