It's Mental Health Awareness Week.
This week is all about raising awareness about the mental health. It offers the opportunity to learn more about the issues surrounding mental health and more importantly, to talk about it. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and we all have mental health to take care of.
This year's theme is anxiety, a natural reaction to some situations. Anxiety can help us to focus or take extra care when needed, but if it can easily become overwhelming if it goes on for a while, if it becomes intense and as a result it can have a negative impact in our daily life. Spotting the signs of anxiety is the first step. It is helpful to find out about common symptoms of anxiety, possible reasons for it and what to do when you’re anxious.
The Mental Health Foundation have a number of free resources that can help you understand more about anxiety along with methods and ideas on how to manage it.
Remember, it's okay to not be okay and there is no shame in seeking help if you're struggling. Let's continue to break the stigma surrounding mental health and promote positive well-being for all rather than suffer in silence.
