This morning, our Year 5/6 pupils headed out into Mill Copse to put their scientific skills to the test in the local environment.
Linked to their current learning in Science, the children carried out a hands-on Lichen Survey. Working in small teams, they used identification keys to spot and classify different types of lichen growing on the trees.
They also learned how lichen acts as a brilliant natural "bio-indicator"—helping us to measure the air quality right here in our community! 🍃
Our young scientists did an incredible job recording their data, working collaboratively, and showing great respect for nature. We definitely have some future ecologists in our midst!
