World Book Day 2026

Today we have been celebrating world book day

Lots of the children and staff have come to nursery dressed up as their favourite characters.

They have participated in lots of activities including book mark making, Gruffalo crumble and creating their own stories.

The children have brought in lots of stories to share with their friends which we have read throughout the day.

You will all receive a world book day voucher to use towards a new story for your children.

Even the staff got into character with the story of the Gruffalo

Some headlines this week claim nurseries are adding “sneaky fees”.
We understand why parents are confused - the language around “free childcare” is misleading.

Here’s the truth:

⭐Funded hours are funded, not fully funded
⭐The funding rate does not cover the real cost of delivery
⭐Nurseries rely on optional extras and additional charges just to stay open
⭐Government data shows school-based nurseries aren’t offering the year-round, full-day care most families need

Private nurseries aren’t exploiting families. They’re keeping the system running.

If you rely on early years care - your nursery, your childminder, your local provider, please know: They are doing everything they can to deliver quality under impossible constraints.

Early Years Voice is fighting for clarity, fairness, and transparency so parents get the truth and providers get the support they desperately need.

Today is National Nursery Practitioners Day. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our amazing Lovacott ladies for all their hard work and dedication.

All our practitioners work tirelessly helping to shape the future, creating a nurturing and supportive environment where children feel safe to explore, learn, and grow. they help them develop crucial skills in communication, social and emotional well-being, and physical development. they turn ordinary moments into extraordinary memories through your creativity and boundless energy.

So today, on behalf of the Lovacott management team and our Lovacott families, we want to say a huge and heartfelt thank you. Thank you for your passion, your commitment, and your unwavering enthusiasm. You are the heart and soul of this nursery, and you are our everyday heroes. Your efforts are not just appreciated on this day, but every single day."

My time at Lovacott Nursery has now sadly come to an end. 🥹
I can not thank you all enough for all my cards, emails, kind words, hugs, appreciation and gifts. Especially those who took the time to visit me this week, even when your children have not had a nursery/ club day with us. 🥰
I would like to take this final opportunity to thank all of our wonderful children who have brought me so much joy and laughter over the past six years. Also you, the parents, for your ongoing support.
But, most importantly of all, my wonderful team; past and present. Without them, my journey simply would not have been the same. What an incredible bunch of caring, loving, educators they are!
Long may the Nursery continue to thrive, with a fantastic bunch practitioners ready to support and develop your children ❤️❤️

For the past 6 months, we have had the wonderful Dave Volunteering at Lovacott Nursery on Wednesday mornings. We are very sad to announce that Dave will be leaving us on Wednesday 16th April. 🥹
Dave has had a massive impact on all of the children in his care, capturing their imaginations and hearts. The weeks will simply feel so different without a ‘Dave Wednesday’!
Thank you Dave for all your support. We wish you well. You’ll be sadly missed by children and staff alike.
