Last week I was asked if we could make a potato masher out of LEGO.
Without thinking… I said yes.
So here we are getting ready…

Excited for the summer… ☀️🌱
…and no, it’s nothing to do with pirates (we just have a soft spot for him).
Something a little different is coming — play, building and connection.
Today everyone built the first letter of their name… but with a twist — it had to tell us something about them.
The results were brilliant, unexpected and honestly gave some lovely little glimpses into personalities, interests and ideas 🤣
Some were exactly what you’d expect… others definitely needed an explanation!
At the same time, some truly wonderful parents quietly took on the challenge of sorting through a very large box of LEGO for me - with some words of encouragement from me.
I’m incredibly grateful.
It reminded me that these sessions aren’t just about what gets built with bricks — they’re about people, conversations, connection and everyone playing a part in making something happen.
Thank You ❤️

Had to quickly grab this before it got returned to the trays and packed back into the car 🚙
We had loads of brilliant builds today, but these two stood out to me…
🌳 One is an awesome tree.
🤔 The yellow one though… I don’t think anyone will guess.
Your guesses goes below ⬇️

How do you view rules?
Had to make a new workshop note for future sessions:
Rule clarification:
ALL towers must start on the floor.
Apparently “tallest tower” and “highest tower” are not the same thing 🤣
Wrenly came to play in Bideford on Friday.
One thing I’ve learnt working with a nearly 4-year-old is that inspiration comes from wherever life currently exists… books, TV, stories, adventures and random finds in the LEGO room.
So naturally we built Thomas the Tank Engine.
Except… it’s LEGO.
And it has no wheels.
It was a brilliant way to end a busy week.
Now onto this week… 😀

You can put out all the tables and chairs in the world… but the floor is still the most creative place to build.
There’s something about spreading out, getting comfortable and letting ideas take over.
No rules. No perfect plans. Just play and imagination.

Just found this whilst sorting LEGO…
Can we take a moment to appreciate that this plate is supposed to be flat 😳😂
I genuinely have no idea what happened here.
Whatever happened, after years of workshops and play, I think this one has earned retirement 🧱🫡
Thoughts and prayers to this plate — I just hope it isn’t in any pain.
Cue emotional farewell music 🎶

Today’s assistant has been sat in on calls, helping with setup and making sure standards are maintained… apparently I’m no longer in charge 😂
One of the nicest things about what I do is that Wrenly gets to see the messy bits too — not just the workshops. The planning, the conversations, the setting up, the problem solving and all the things that happen behind the scenes.
I spend a lot of time hoping I’m teaching him something through all of this.
Although if today is anything to go by… I might be training my replacement.
We had a stop motion film sent through from this week’s workshop and it made me smile.
It’s perfect because it isn’t perfect.
We spent a lot of the morning talking about how perfect doesn’t really exist. There will always be something you’d change, improve or do differently next time.
What matters is starting, experimenting, learning and enjoying the process.
In many ways, that’s what STEM, creativity and LEGO building are all about. Build it. Test it. Learn from it. Improve it. Then have another go.
This film captures that brilliantly. Made with LEGO®, a phone and a few blobs of Blu Tack, it’s proof that you don’t need fancy equipment to create something you’re proud of.
I’m really proud of this young builder and filmmaker for bringing their ideas to life and sharing them with us.
