🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ WE DID IT! 📚❤️

What a day for The Spires College Sixth Form! Our students and staff took on the Torbay 10K and Half Marathon in support of Torquay Reads, and everyone should be incredibly proud of themselves.

Our times:

🏃‍♂️ Harrison – 10K – 46:54
🏃‍♂️ Oscar – 10K – 51:23
🏃‍♂️ Mr Somers – 10K – 58:17
🏃‍♀️ Amy & Tayla – 10K – 1:14:37
🏃‍♂️ Jack – Half Marathon – 1:54:35 👏

Everyone finished in or around their target times, with some seriously impressive performances! The dedication and commitment shown by our students throughout the challenge has been outstanding. 👏

We’re currently just under £300 and our target is £500 for Torquay Reads.

Tomorrow, students and staff from The Spires College Sixth Form will be taking on the Torbay 10K and Half Marathon in support of Torquay Reads.

We’re now around halfway to our £500 fundraising target, and we would absolutely love to reach it before the challenge is over! 💙

📖 Torquay Reads is an amazing local charity working to ensure every child in Torquay has access to age appropriate books, helping to improve literacy, confidence, wellbeing and future opportunities.

🏆 Karting success for Sonny! 🏎️

A huge congratulations to Sonny, who has been crowned the 2026 Dunkeswell Junior Corporate Champion at Dunkeswell Raceway in Devon!

Sonny secured the championship with an impressive 110 points, following an exceptional run of results over the summer. He took race wins in July, August and September, collecting the maximum points available across all three rounds.

Maintaining that level of performance month after month takes huge focus, consistency and determination, and it is fantastic to see Sonny’s hard work rewarded with the championship title.

Well done, Sonny! We’re incredibly proud of your achievement and wish you the very best as you head to Northampton this weekend for two national races at Whilton Mill and Silverstone. 🏁

We are seeking to appoint an innovative and skilled ICT Network Manager to lead the IT infrastructure and systems. They will lead the network team and be responsible for development, maintenance and support of the broad range of technologies used within the College and ensure issues are identified, understood and resolved in a timely manner.

The role includes responsibility for ICT infrastructure, cybersecurity, data protection compliance, technology procurement, project management and future digital development. The ICT Network Manager has a vital role in improving outcomes for our students through the effective development and implementation of our ICT strategy to support teaching, learning and school support functions.

The Spires College is a co-educational, 11-18 School with a bilateral stream. We are a friendly, caring school which puts the needs of our children at the heart of all we do and are committed to improving outcomes for all young people.

Our Year 8 students have been flexing their creative skills, bringing their ideas and talents to life through these beautifully illustrated letters.

Mr Long’s 8 Purple class have created a brilliant mix of typography, creativity and personal expression. Once complete, the letters will be brought together to create a full illustrated alphabet for exhibition.

It’s been fantastic to see our new Year 7 students settling into their new routines, taking on new opportunities and making lots of new friends.

A special shout-out to everyone who has helped make Mr Long’s Calm Art & Settling-In Club such a fun, friendly and welcoming place to be. 🎨

The lunchtime club continues until Friday 18 September, so there’s still plenty of time to get involved!

We are pleased to announce our next Open Evening event for students in Year 6 and their parents or carers.

This evening is designed to give you a flavour of who we are and what your child can expect if they join us for their secondary education. Families will have a tour of the school, meet staff and students, explore our facilities, and hear about everything we have to offer.
