We were delighted to receive this wonderful video from Alex, Head Gardener at Horatio’s Garden in Salisbury.
At Abbey, we love helping children discover their passions and interests, and it is always inspiring to hear from experts who share the same enthusiasm. Alex’s message is a lovely reminder of where curiosity, dedication and a love of nature can lead.
Thank you, Alex, for taking the time to speak to our pupils and for giving them such an inspiring glimpse into the world of horticulture.
We hope you enjoy watching!

We are delighted to be able to share our latest Ofsted report for Abbey Nursery.
The report recognises the significant progress made since our previous inspection and highlights many of the things that make our nursery such a special place for children to learn, grow and thrive.
Inspectors praised our inclusive approach, strong safeguarding culture, nurturing environment, support for communication and language, and the commitment of our dedicated staff team. We are particularly proud that Inclusion, Behaviour, Welfare & Wellbeing were recognised as strengths of the nursery.
This report reflects years of hard work, reflection and determination from our staff team, alongside the support of our wonderful children and families. Improvement is never a destination but a journey, and we remain committed to providing the very best start for every child in our care.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of that journey.
Small but mighty. ❤️

Sports Day had plenty of excitement, but nobody was quite prepared for this…! 🦩🦈🦖🐘
Just when the children thought they knew what was coming next, our staff appeared in a collection of inflatable animal costumes to take on the pupils in the traditional pupils vs teachers race!
There were plenty of laughs, lots of cheering and a few questionable athletic performances from the animal kingdom, but it certainly added to the fun of a fantastic day.
At Abbey, we believe school should be full of memorable moments, and judging by the reactions, this is one Sports Day surprise that won’t be forgotten in a hurry!
Which inflatable animal was your favourite? Let us know below! 👇

🦷🔬 Science in Action! 🔬🦷
Our Lower Juniors have been putting their scientific skills to the test by creating their own toothpastes and investigating which formulas were most effective at removing stains.
The children carefully planned their experiments, made predictions, tested their creations and compared the results. There was plenty of excitement as they discovered that not all toothpastes perform in the same way!
Most importantly, they enjoyed getting hands-on with their learning and seeing science come to life through investigation and discovery.
At Abbey, we love giving pupils opportunities to think like scientists — asking questions, testing ideas and learning from the results.

Year 6 are already looking ahead to their next adventure.
Today, they took their first steps towards Key Stage 3 maths by learning how to use scientific calculators — a skill they’ll be using regularly when they move on to secondary school.
As part of our Year 6 transition programme, we work hard to ensure that pupils are not only academically prepared for the next stage of their education, but also confident and ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
It’s always exciting to see our oldest pupils taking these important steps towards secondary school. They may still have plenty to achieve at Abbey before the end of term, but the journey to Year 7 is already underway.
Secondary school, we’re getting ready for you! 🎓📚
👀 Watch this space… and watch Lane 1.
Today, our U10 Girls’ 50m Backstroke swimmer competed in the IAPS National Finals at the London Aquatics Centre.
At just nine years old, she lined up against a field packed with swimmers a year older than herself and represented Abbey School with determination, courage and pride.
Qualifying for a national final at such a young age is an exceptional achievement. In doing so, she has set an Abbey School record as our youngest-ever individual swimmer to qualify for a national finals event.
We couldn’t be prouder of everything she has achieved this season and of the way she performed on one of the biggest stages in school swimming.
A special thank you to Torquay Leander Swimming Club for the support, coaching and opportunities that have helped her on her swimming journey.
At just nine years old, we’re certain this won’t be her last National Final. Watch this space… ❤️🏊♀️

🏊♀️✨ PERSONAL BEST AT THE NATIONAL FINALS! ✨🏊♀️
What a moment for Team Abbey!
Competing at the IAPS National Swimming Finals in the London Aquatics Centre, our U11 Mixed Para 25m Freestyle swimmer produced a superb swim, stopping the clock in 21.44 seconds — a fantastic new personal best. ⭐
To achieve a PB at a national finals event is something very special. The atmosphere, the occasion and the pressure make it an incredible challenge, yet she rose to it brilliantly.
We are so proud of the determination, resilience and courage she has shown throughout her journey. To stand amongst the very best swimmers in this race series and then swim faster than ever before is a tremendous achievement.
Small but mighty. ❤️
