First football match of the new season took us to Bradley Barton Primary School in Newton Abbot for a preseason friendly.

This was always going to be a tricky fixture with Bradley Barton having already had a full season together with all their players established in a successful team which competed in their competitive league format last season.
For us, this was the first time our 5/6 boys had played together, only having one training session prior to the game.

Our boys got off to a flying start, taking a 2-0 lead inside the first 10 minutes. Shortly after half-time, they found themselves 3-2 down but the power of resilience worked and they came away with a thoroughly deserved 4-3 victory with 3 goals from Elliot and a single from Reuben.

The boys who played in the second match also put in a very composed and impressive display winning 1-0. A goal from Henry was enough for victory.

Our Nursery children had a wonderful autumn adventure as they explored our beautiful Bowden Woods! 🍂🌳 Armed with curious minds and eager eyes, they set off on a special hunt for signs of autumn. From crunchy leaves and colourful trees to acorns, conkers and woodland treasures, there was so much to discover! The children loved exploring, searching and spotting the changes happening all around them, making the most of this magical season in the great outdoors. 🍁🐿️

The final full week of last academic year was certainly one to remember, as we embraced the excitement and energy of the X Games! It was a fantastic highlight of the year, giving our children the opportunity to celebrate being active, trying new challenges and enjoying the many benefits of physical activity. There was such a wonderful atmosphere throughout the week, with children showing enthusiasm, determination and plenty of team spirit. We brought the week to a spectacular close with our fantastic Colour Run, which was the perfect celebration of everything we had enjoyed throughout the week — lots of movement, laughter, colour and fun. It was a brilliant way to finish the academic year and create some very special memories together.

Keep Doodling this Summer! ☀️

From 1st July to 31st August, children can take part in the DoodleMaths and/or DoodleEnglish Summer Challenge. Just 14 days of Doodling and 750 stars (or 600 stars for children born after August 2018) will earn them exclusive in-app rewards, a real pin badge and a downloadable certificate.

Children with a school or home Doodle subscription can take part. Parents simply need to enter their child into the challenge and can download a free tracker to monitor their progress.

A huge thank you to our incredible Sherwell Valley Primary School community for your amazing generosity and support of our Sherwell X Games Colour Run. Together, you have raised a fantastic £4,500 through sponsorship! This incredible total will make a real difference by helping us continue to provide exciting experiences, enrichment activities and opportunities that inspire our children to be physically active, develop new skills and discover a lifelong love of movement. We are so grateful to everyone who sponsored, cheered from the sidelines, volunteered and took part. Your support is helping us create even more memorable opportunities for our children to be active, healthy and happy. Thank you for making our first ever Sherwell X Games such an incredible success!

We are delighted to announce that yet again we have achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Providing sport and physical activity will always remain one of our school priorities so that we encourage our children to live healthy lifestyles and have a positive mindset. We are extremely proud of our children for their dedication to all aspects of school PE and sport.
