We are so proud of the Torbay and South Devon Music Centre Youth Strings, directed by Goska Kosmaczewska, who are representing us at the Music For Youth National Festival 2026!

Here they are this morning performing Palladio, movement 1, by Karl Jenkins, in the Birmingham Symphony Hall.

(There is no regular Friday music centre in Torquay today!)

What an incredible evening we had last night!

The Torbay and South Devon Music Centre concert is truly something special, with inspiring performances under the evening sun from:
Concert Orchestra
Reed Ensemble
Flute and Oboe Choir
Percussion Ensemble
Concert Brass
Fast Forward (beginner to grade 1 ensemble)
Youth Strings
and the TSDMC Orchestra!

That was our last Friday meeting in Torquay. But that’s not the end of term - next Friday we’re off to perform in the Music for Youth festival in Birmingham!

Our summer concert is tomorrow! Outside in the grounds of Torquay Boys’ Grammar School, it will be a special end to the year.

Each ensemble performs a selection of the works they have rehearsed during the term. Taking part in a public performance as part of a full-scale concert is a valuable and exciting experience for young players.

This is your opportunity to hear for yourself how well the students can play and to see how much they enjoy making music together. The concerts are open to the public, as well as parents, family, friends and music teachers; please come along to hear good music played to a high standard by enthusiastic young musicians.

Today we are celebrating that two new players came and joined in with Flute Ensemble at yesterday’s rehearsal! Including a wonderful oboe player! They all sounded beautiful together… maybe they will become the Floboe Ensemble???
