For the past 10 years, Stuart has been a much loved part of our Bovey Tracey shop community 🧡
Since first volunteering in summer 2015, Stuart has dedicated his Tuesday mornings to helping keep the shop running smoothly, from rotating books to helping customers find exactly what they need, whether that’s a summer hat, a raincoat or a walking stick so people can enjoy Dartmoor.
For Stuart, one of the best parts of volunteering is the people he meets along the way. 'It’s just so interesting meeting a wide variety of people from all around the world that are visiting.'
If Stuart’s story has inspired you, we’d love to welcome more volunteers to our amazing shop teams in Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, Babbacombe and Brixham. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or more, volunteering is a wonderful way to meet people, support a worthwhile cause and become part of your local community.
Send us a message or pop into one of our shops to find out more! 🧡

Cathy and Maz's friendship goes way back 💛
The pair first met while volunteering together at The Donkey Sanctuary, and now they’ve brought their friendship with them to The Mare and Foal Sanctuary too as Sanctuary Care Volunteers. It's a beautiful example of how volunteering doesn't just benefit the animals, it has the power to forge lasting, meaningful bonds between the people who show up to help.
At the heart of everything we do at the sanctuary are our incredible volunteers, without whom we simply couldn't provide the care, safety, and second chances that so many horses and ponies deserve.
Whether you’d like to support our Sanctuary Care teams, help in one of our charity shops, assist our Estate Rangers, volunteer at events, or join us as part of a corporate volunteering day, there are so many ways to get involved.
Volunteering is a chance to learn new skills, gain valuable experience, meet wonderful people, and make a real difference to the lives of rescued animals.
Could you join our amazing volunteer community? 🐴

Running since 1984, Volunteers’ Week is the perfect moment to thank our amazing team and recognise the value of volunteer time, passion and skills.
