We are proud to have collaborated with Coleg Penybont - Bridgend College on ‘Project Malcolm’, an integrated health, wellbeing and sustainability initiative at the college.

A central element of this project was to create a vibrant outdoor teaching and dining space and our collaboration bridges local, sustainable craftsmanship with student-led education.

We were tasked with handcrafting a communal banqueting table, custom built to bring students, community members and local employers together.

We also made companion benches, built to fit the banqueting space and a pizza oven preparation table to accompany the wood-fired oven.

Heatwave Update ☀️

To safeguard the wellbeing of our trainees during the heatwave, B-Leaf and Wood-B will be closed to trainees on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th June.

What an amazing day out we have had today at Sain Ffagan: Amgueddfa Werin Cymru - St Fagans National Museum of History!

It was fantastic to go on a trip with trainees from both Wood-B and B-Leaf, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Quote of the day: "I have had so much fun today!" and that's what it's all about ❤️

We’re Recruiting a Training Support Assistant

Basis: Part Time - 15 hours per week (requirement to work weekends during busy periods)

In this role, a key focus will be overseeing the day-to-day food production within our B-Leaf allotments. You will take an active, hands-on role in the planning, growing, and maintenance of crops that contribute to Awen’s wider food network. Supporting trainees to develop confidence and practical skills in horticulture will be central to your work, ensuring they are safe, engaged, and thriving in the allotment environment.

Alongside food growing, you will help trainees build wider employability skills through practical training in landscaping, grounds maintenance, and carpentry. You will also support our sister project, Wood-B, and assist with essential grounds maintenance across the Bryngarw Park site. During our busy bedding plant season, you will play a key role in customer service and retail operations.

B-Leaf and Wood-B trainees thoroughly enjoyed a morning out to Maesteg Town Hall today 🎦

They headed to Y Bocs Oren cinema for a private screening of Chicken Run and thoroughly enjoyed the film.
