Last Friday, the Sixth Form hosted a glamorous Jazz Evening for parents, friends and staff. The event served both as a fundraiser for their upcoming prom and as a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their musical talents.

The school hall was beautifully transformed into an intimate jazz club, complete with candlelit tables and nibbles for guests to enjoy. The audience was treated to a varied programme of solos, duets and band performances featuring classics such as Moon River, My Way, That’s Life, Careless Whisper and Feeling Good.

A lovely evening was had by all, with standout performances from Melissa, Ella, Cali, Flo, Maisie, Freya, Georgie, Anna, Jay, Holly and Jessica. The event was also supported by the Sixth Form Student Leadership Team, who worked behind the scenes to ensure the evening ran smoothly.

Before Half-term, Hillview held its Open Evening, allowing prospective parents to tour the facilities and meet the staff.

🌟 What an incredible day out for our Year 12 Psychology students at London Zoo! 🦁🦒 We journeyed through the train and tube and enjoyed a lovely walk through Regents Park, all to attend an engaging Psychology Study Day focused on animal behaviour.

Students applied their knowledge of psychological approaches, exploring the innate versus learned behaviours in animals. The highlight? Watching a Super Species Live display where zookeepers used positive reinforcement to teach animals! 🎉 Seeing the stunning Green-Wing Macaws hold up their claws for health checks was simply fantastic.

After a delicious lunch, we conducted our own animal observations, learning firsthand about the importance of sampling and standardisation in research. We loved watching the gorillas, giraffes, penguins, and lemurs while sharing our insights with each other! 🐒🐧

To wrap up the day, we had a thought-provoking workshop on animal intelligence and delved into how ethnocentrism can affect our understanding of research findings.

A huge shoutout to our amazing Year 12s for their impeccable behaviour, manners, and enthusiasm throughout the day! We’re so proud of you! 🙌
