As a Pilates teacher, I don’t post all that much… but my algorithm is FULL to the brim with other teachers, and honestly, sometimes it can feel completely overwhelming.

The other day I found myself thinking about how much I’ve evolved as a teacher over the years. In many ways, how I teach is still the same — but in other ways, it feels completely different.

And I don’t think that change has only come from CPD training or qualifications. I think it’s far more personal than that.

I truly believe it comes from knowing what it feels like to experience weakness and pain in my own body over the years.

Twenty-six years ago, Pilates found its way into my life and changed everything. So yes… this work is deeply personal to me.

Every time a client walks into my studio, it matters to me that they
develop a real connection with their own bodies — to understand how they move through space, not just imitate a prescriptive exercise. I want them to explore how movement feels to them, and discover how to make it work for their body.

It’s why I keep my classes small.
It’s why clients in the same class might all be doing different exercises.
It’s why I encourage people to understand why they’re feeling what they feel, and to recognise when something doesn’t feel right.

Not to chase someone else’s range of movement.
Not to strive for “perfect.”

But to find strength, balance, awareness, and an ease of movement that belongs uniquely to them.
