We are proud to share that Leigh Academies Trust leads academy trusts nationally under Ofsted’s new inspection framework!

Leigh Academies Trust (LAT) ranks first among the twenty- two academy trusts who have been inspected four or more times under Ofsted’s new approach, with 77.6% of its judgements graded Strong or above against a national rate of 25.8%. The Trust has also been awarded 19 Exceptional grades, more than any other trust in the country.

Ofsted inspected seven LAT academies between November 2025 and July 2026, the first full year of the inspectorate’s new approach. Those inspections produced 49 separate judgements: 19 graded Exceptional, 19 Strong and 11 Expected. Not one fell below the Expected standard, which Ofsted itself defines as a “high bar”.

Simon Beamish, Chief Executive of Leigh Academies Trust, said:
“Seven inspections in a single year with not one grade below the Expected standard out of 49 tells you something about the consistency our academies have built”.

A warm welcome to all our new families in EYFS!
After just 3 days at school, children are already making friends and having fun exploring their new classroom and outdoor area. They are settling in beautifully, especially with our Year 6 children supporting them so well at lunchtime. This is one of the reasons Horsmonden is so special!

Sensational primary results- Key Stage 2 results, 2026 (provisional)

On 16 July, Leigh Academies Trust (LAT) received their Key Stage 2 results for 2026 across fifteen primary academies. 85% of LAT pupils achieved the combined expected standard compared to the national average of 63%. All academies were well above the national average, which is a remarkable achievement.

It is clear that pupils continue to get off to a flying start in LAT primary academies and their results are testament to the exceptional work of our dedicated staff. It is no surprise that 75% of LAT primary academies were judged “Outstanding” by Ofsted under the old inspection framework and that Ofsted has awarded multiple “Exceptional” grades in the Trust’s two primary inspections since November 2025 under the new framework. This is far in excess of the proportion of primaries nationally to achieve such accolades.

Horsmonden Green hosted another beautiful May Day celebration, featuring a flawless maypole performance by Year 4. The event was highlighted by a heartwarming speech from the May Queen and a fantastic community turnout. The display was so elegant that grandparent David Dunnett was moved to write into The Daily Telegraph to share his praise for the historic village tradition.
