Congratulations to this student who, in her last term at primary school, took part in the Young Enterprise Fiver Challenge.

Students were challenged to create their own businesses, developing products and selling them at school. They also had to submit a project pack covering their research, budgeting, marketing and results.

Her project was entered for the Sustainability Award, which she was shortlisted for. She recently travelled to London to attend the awards ceremony at which she was recognised as a national runner up.

What a fantastic achievement, in a challenge in which 32,000 young people partook.

Physoc organised and ran a fantastic rocket competition, and last week was launch week - the first rainy day for a long time!

The teams all produced great rockets with the potential to do well but the launching proved more challenging.

They worked really well as teams, learnt a lot and had great fun during the process. The winning rocket was FLAME - built and designed by a group of Year 11 and 12 students.

The Drama Department recently had the pleasure of examining ten groups of GCSE students as they presented their devised performances. Drawing inspiration from a chosen stimulus and influenced by the work of a theatre practitioner, each piece showcased impressive creativity, originality and artistic ambition.

What was particularly remarkable was the sheer variety of the work on display. Every performance was distinct, offering a unique interpretation of the task and demonstrating the students' growing understanding of dramatic style, structure and performance skills. The evening was engaging, thought-provoking and thoroughly entertaining from start to finish.

Alongside their performance work, students fully embraced the production and technical aspects of theatre. Each group took responsibility for supporting one another behind the scenes, working as lighting, sound, set and costume designers, as well as members of the technical crew. Their professionalism, teamwork and commitment to the collaborative nature of theatre were evident throughout the evening.

We are incredibly proud of all the students involved. Their dedication, creativity and willingness to take risks resulted in a highly successful showcase of both performance and production skills. The future of theatre is certainly bright, and there are undoubtedly some talented performers, lighting designers, sound designers, set designers and costume designers amongst our GCSE cohort.

Congratulations to the team, that includes players from Years 11, 12 and 13, who travelled to Canterbury to compete. This was their first performance this year as mixed year group team.

They will now represent Kent schools at the Regional Finals.

This follows the success of the Under 16 team from last year (which featured some of the same players).

Everyone played very well, and the team grew in confidence during the day, winning two penalty stroke competitions in the semi-final against Duke of Yorks School and in the final against Cranbrook School.

Year 12 Drama Students have made an exceptional start to their studies, enthusiastically exploring a range of influential theatre practitioners while developing a strong understanding of the demands and expectations of A Level study.

Throughout their first term, they have demonstrated remarkable professionalism, creativity and commitment, embracing new challenges with confidence and maturity. Both Drama teachers have been thoroughly impressed by their talent, dedication and determination to succeed. Their achievements so far have been extremely impressive, and they have laid a fantastic foundation for the exciting work ahead.
