A huge thank you to Little roots Big me Childminding for our wonderful new tents, tunnel, and stepping stones.

The children were delighted to choose these items using the Smyths Toys Superstores voucher that we were fortunate enough to win a few weeks ago on their competition. They have already been thoroughly enjoying exploring and playing with their new equipment, which has been a fantastic addition to our setting.

Thank you once again for your generosity and for providing this wonderful opportunity.

Wooding's Woodshack fans

⚽️Come on England!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

We’ve been embracing football fever with lots of fun activities! The children enjoyed making their own flags at playgroup last week and practising their kicking skills with balloons through a target goal along with great fun trying a bit of keepy-uppy.

We also took a walk to the shops to buy some more footballs, giving everyone another opportunity to talk about the excitement surrounding the game with colouring and designing football kits and rainbow footballs!

Back at the setting, we enjoyed practising our football skills with our resident football enthusiast, Ladybird T, who was only too happy to share his impressive skills and encourage the children to join in. It has been a fantastic few weeks weaved full of teamwork, movement, and lots of sporting fun!

We’ve been having so much fun while learning through play, with activities supporting lots of areas of the EYFS:

🍦 Ice cream shop role play to encourage communication, language and imaginative play.

🍦 Ice cream memory games to develop listening skills, turn-taking and concentration.

🍦 Colour and pattern matching to build early mathematical skills.

🍦 Scooping ice creams and threading them onto lolly sticks to strengthen fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

🍦 Following ice cream order sequences to develop sequencing, early maths skills and an understanding of beginning, middle and end.

🍦 Cutting and sticking to create our own colourful ice cream collages, encouraging creativity and developing scissor skills.

🍦 Ice cream number games in our sensory ice trays, combining messy play with counting, number recognition and mathematical language.

The children have loved exploring this theme, following their interests and learning through lots of hands-on play. 💛

Next up… we’ll be making our very own ice cream! 🍨 I’m sure it will be a big hit!
