Tolleshunt Knights Preschool operates in the Tolleshunt Knights Village Hall which is situated in a quiet rural setting. The setting is well-equipped with plenty of parking, disabled access, and security alarms. In addition to a vast indoor space in which the children can run and play, there is also a secure, fenced outdoor play area for the children’s enjoyment. We are surrounded by Tolleshunt Kn
ights Playing fields, the woods and the play park. We utilise these facilities as often as we can so the children can also experience outdoor learning. We are Ofsted rated Good 2018, and registered with Preschool Learning Alliance. We offer 2 year funding to eligible families, extended 30hours funding. Our Manager Clare and Deputy Manager Jo work together with our team of practitioners to create a safe and happy environment for both the children that attend the Preschool and the staff that work with them. Using the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, which incorporates the Development Matters philosophy, the staff members at Tolleshunt Knights Preschool are dedicated to helping children take their first steps onto the all-important education learning journey. All of the children are assigned a Key Person who gets to know them, and records and supervises each child’s individual progress and achievements. This is all recorded and posted on our online learning portal Famly. Parents are also encouraged to come along to events that are planned throughout the year so that they can see for themselves the progress their child is making. Preschools are an important part of a child’s journey; they help them to become sociable individuals, to slowly adapt to their changing lives, and prepare them for that all-important transition to primary school. Sending children to preschool also helps them deal with the separation anxiety that sometimes occurs when they are left at school for the first time. Often children who attend preschool adapt to school life faster because they are secure in knowing that even though their parents or carers may leave them at school in the morning, they will always return at the end of the day to pick them up. Tolleshunt Knights Preschool has a series of events that run through the year, including sports day, a day trip where staff, parents and carers and children alike have lots of fun whilst a great learning experience. All of the children take part in the annual Christmas production, parents and carers, as well as community members, are invited to watch the production. Lunch club on a Monday and Thursday is a big hit with the children. Held two afternoons a week immediately following the main session. This helps them to get used to eating lunch in a school environment. The children also sit down to do more structured academic activities such as writing practice and simple maths so as to give them a head-start in primary school.
