π§οΈβ Well... the British weather has done it again!
The sunshine has vanished, the rain has arrived, and sadly there will be NO Treat Friday TODAY! π’
However, there is some exciting news...
π»β¨ Mrs Eastman has a very special visitor in the school office today! β¨π»
Our St Johnβs Fayre Bear has decided that, with the weather looking a little too wet for outdoor adventures, a day in the warm office sounds much more appealing! We hear he's already making himself at home and keeping a close eye on things... ππΎ
While he's busy helping Mrs Eastman, he still has one very important job for everyone:
π»β€οΈ HELP US NAME OUR ST JOHNβS FAYRE BEAR! β€οΈπ»
For just Β£1 per name ENTRY, you could be in with a chance of winning:
π₯ St Johnβs Fayre Bear + Essebeare Farm Meat Box
π₯ Giant Toy Dinosaur
π₯ Β£10 Amazon Voucher
If you'd like to support our Witheridge C of E Primary Academy PTFA and suggest a name comp, come and visit Mrs Eastman and her furry assistant in the office this morning or after school at 3:30 pm.
We can't promise the bear will do any paperwork, but he is very good at collecting name suggestions! π»π
Good luck everyone! π

KS1 reducing, reusing, recycling and recreating!
KS1 had a wonderful visit from Sally, where we learnt all about the importance of reducing, reusing, recycling and recreating. The children enjoyed thinking about the properties of different materials and used their scientific knowledge to sort a variety of items.
We also played a fun game where we explored magnetism and learnt about materials such as steel, silver and aluminium. The children then took part in an exciting activity following the recycling journey of a baked bean can and discovered how materials can be reused to make new products.
To finish the session, everyone made a magnet for their fridge at home to remind their families how to recycle household waste correctly. It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience that the children thoroughly enjoyed!

Resource Futures - Recycling Workshops with Sally
We were very excited to welcome Sally Jackson from Resource Futures back to Witheridge on Wednesday 20th May. Sally has visited us a number of times over the past few years and her workshops are always great fun while really supporting our learning across the curriculum.
In FSU, the children enjoyed a workshop all about Plastic Pirates and thinking about the importance of putting waste in the bin and not leaving litter. Children in KS1 considered different materials, and began to think about which materials could be recycled.
In Class 3, children discovered that fruit and vegetables can be used to power batteries, and considered what renewable forms of energy are available to use instead of fossil fuels. In year 5, children had a go at doing their own recycling by making their own paper. All the children really enjoyed their workshops, represented the school brilliantly with their curiosity and attention, and hopefully took home some valuable learning about environmental education.
