Partial solar eclipse tomorrow on Tuesday 12th August.

Many of the children may remember the collective worship led by local astronomy enthusiast Steven Smith at the beginning of July, when he shared his passion for astronomy and introduced the children to the upcoming eclipse. His visit sparked great curiosity and excitement across the school community.

Tomorrow evening, we look forward to the partial solar eclipse and Steven and other astronomy enthusiasts would like to warmly welcome everyone to join them outside the Witheridge Parish Hall from 6.00pm on Tuesday 12th August to enjoy this exciting event together

The eclipse is expected to reach its maximum coverage at approximately 7.15pm, so fingers crossed for clear skies! 🌤️ Families, friends and members of the wider community are all very welcome to come along and experience this remarkable celestial event together.

A huge thank you once again to Steven for inspiring our children and for helping bring our community together for what promises to be a memorable evening.

Today we celebrated a very special handover as we thanked our outgoing Head Girl, Betsy, and Head Boy, Alfie, for their outstanding leadership this year. 🌟

Betsy and Alfie have been exceptional ambassadors for Witheridge C of E Academy, leading with kindness, confidence and integrity. They have represented our school with pride, supported school events, welcomed visitors and younger pupils, and truly lived out our vision to "Encourage One Another and Build Each Other Up." We are incredibly grateful for all they have contributed and know they will continue to achieve great things as they move on to the next stage of their education.

We are also delighted to announce our new Head Girl and Head Boy for the coming academic year.

Congratulations to Taya, our new Head Girl, and Khalid, our new Head Boy! 🎉

We know you will be fantastic role models for our school community and will embrace your new responsibilities with enthusiasm, compassion and courage. We are excited to see you grow into these important leadership roles and wish you every success for the year ahead.

As the Year 6 children enter their final week of primary school, here’s a special poem for their parents and guardians…

🚶‍♀️ Walk your child to school one last time this week, even if they roll their eyes 🙄 or walk a step ahead.

😊 Smile at the memory of all the sticks they once collected, 🎨 the paintings they carried home beaming with pride.

🏃‍♂️ Talk about the sports days they raced through with joy, 🎄 and how they made you laugh in every Christmas play.

💬 Tell them clearly and simply, 💖 how proud you are of the person they are becoming, 🌟 and how excited you are for all that’s ahead.

👶 Remember the size of their hand when you held it on that very first morning of Reception. 🤝 Hold it again now, just for a moment,
as you walk the familiar path one last time.

✨ You’ve done something extraordinary. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ You’ve walked beside them every step of the way.
