THS in Space!

This spring, many of our Year 7 to Year 10 students took on an out-of-this-world challenge: designing a 64-pixel image celebrating the incredible flora and fauna of Earth, with the goal of having their creations sent to the International Space Station (ISS)!

The project combined creativity, imagination, maths and Python coding skills as students worked to submit their designs to the European Space Agency (ESA). After months of anticipation, we were thrilled to receive the amazing news that our students' artwork was displayed aboard the ISS in May 2026!

Even more exciting, each student received a certificate confirming not only their participation but also the exact location of the space station above Earth when their image appeared on screen. How many people can say their artwork has been viewed in space?

We are incredibly proud of every student who embraced this unique opportunity with enthusiasm, curiosity and determination. Their achievements are a wonderful reminder that learning has no limits and that THS students can reach for the stars, quite literally!

Congratulations to everyone involved. We can't wait to discover even more ways to showcase the talent, creativity and brilliance of our students to the wider world... and beyond!

What a fantastic afternoon celebrating sporting success at our PE Awards!

The event brought together students who have gone above and beyond this year through their commitment to extra-curricular PE clubs, representing the school in fixtures, and consistently demonstrating outstanding effort and determination in lessons.

We were delighted to recognise so many achievements, including our Most Dedicated Club Members from each year group, Sports Person of the Year, Team of the Year, the prestigious Oliver Croker Sports Personality of the Year Award, and the Maggie Fasey Cup for Outstanding Achievement.

These awards are about so much more than results. They celebrate the resilience, commitment, teamwork, sportsmanship and perseverance shown by our students throughout the year. We are incredibly proud of every student who has embraced opportunities, challenged themselves and contributed to our thriving sporting community.

A huge congratulations to all of our nominees and winners, and thank you to our staff, families and supporters who continue to encourage and inspire our young people.

Here's to an exceptional year of sport and participation. We can't wait to see what next year brings!

Celebrating Success at Our Recent Celebration Breakfasts!

We have had the pleasure of hosting several wonderful Celebration Breakfasts recently, recognising the hard work, commitment, and achievements of our students.

A special congratulations to 9Y1, who achieved something truly remarkable by topping the SPARX Maths homework leaderboard every single week this academic year! No other class managed to knock them from the top spot, and we are incredibly proud of their dedication, resilience, and determination throughout the year.

We also celebrated our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award participants, who have successfully completed their award. Well done to all involved on this fantastic achievement! If you're interested in taking part in Silver DofE, or would like to find out more about the DofE programme, please speak to Mrs Webber as soon as possible.

Also joining us were our Year 7 and Year 8 students who achieved 100% completion on their SPARX homework this term, along with those who placed in the top three positions in each year group. Their commitment to their learning deserves huge recognition.

Students enjoyed breakfast together in the library, taking time to celebrate their successes with friends and staff. It was a lovely morning and a reminder of how much can be achieved through hard work, perseverance, and a positive attitude.

Well done to all of our students - we are incredibly proud of you!

What a fantastic way to end the school year!

Today, our students enjoyed a well-deserved celebration on the field, with inflatables, ice creams, laughter and plenty of fun in the sunshine. It was wonderful to see our school community come together to mark the end of another successful year.

As part of the day, students also heard from the amazing RNLI volunteers, who shared vital summer safety messages. They learnt about the importance of water safety, how the Float to Live technique can save lives, what the different beach flags mean, and how to stay safe around rivers and open water. Students were also reminded about sun safety and how to make the most of the summer break while staying safe and looking after themselves and others.

There was also time for one final battle of the brains as tutor groups took part in quizzes, bringing a year of friendly rivalry and competition to an exciting close.

As we reflect on the past year, we are incredibly proud of everything our students have achieved. From academic successes and sporting triumphs to creative accomplishments and personal growth, it has been a year filled with resilience, determination and memorable moments.

Thank you to our students, staff, families and wider community for your support throughout the year. We wish everyone a happy, relaxing and safe summer break.

Enjoy the summer, make wonderful memories, stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming you back in September!

Every award reflects hard work, growth and dedication, and we are incredibly proud of all those who were recognised.

Congratulations to every student who received an award today. Your commitment to your learning and your willingness to keep striving forward make our school community stronger. We can't wait to see you wearing your badges with pride next year.

Sports for All Day 2026

What an incredible atmosphere.

The day got off to an electric start with athletics taking place in the morning, helping everyone avoid the hottest part of the day while setting the tone for an unforgettable event. From the very first race, there was excitement, determination and encouragement in abundance. Students gave their all in every event, showing resilience, commitment and a willingness to challenge themselves while earning valuable points for their tutor groups.

One of the highlights of the day was undoubtedly the tutor relays. These races showcased exactly what teamwork is all about, proving that every runner and every baton changeover matters. The tension and anticipation along the 100m straight, with the entire school cheering and supporting from the sidelines, created an atmosphere that was simply immense. The roar of encouragement from students and staff could be heard across the field, inspiring competitors to give everything they had as they raced for crucial points. Moments like these remind us just how special our school community is and how proud we are of the support students show for one another.

Throughout the day, students threw themselves into the wide range of events on offer, demonstrating fantastic effort, resilience and sportsmanship. Whether competing, supporting friends, helping to organise events or cheering from the sidelines, everyone played their part right until the very end. It was wonderful to see students encouraging one another, celebrating successes and lifting each other up regardless of the result.

What made the day so special was that it truly lived up to its name: Sports for All. Every student had the opportunity to get involved, contribute to their tutor group and be part of something bigger. The enthusiasm shown throughout the day highlighted the strength of our school community and the sense of belonging that exists across all year groups.

A huge well done and thank you to all students and staff who made the day such a success.

The final results are still being calculated, and with the scores incredibly close, all will be revealed on Thursday.

A Fantastic Week of Work Experience and Career Exploration!

What a week it's been for our students! From developing their own business ideas and meeting local banking professionals, to taking on Army team-building challenges and learning about the wide range of careers available in the NHS, students gained valuable insights into a variety of future pathways.

The week finished with an unforgettable hands-on construction experience, where students learned practical skills including measuring, sawing, drilling, calculating angles, and working together to construct a roof structure.

A huge thank you to John Tolly, whose time, patience, expertise, and passion made the day such a valuable experience for our students. We are also incredibly grateful to Travis Perkins for generously donating the timber and materials that helped bring the project to life.

We're so proud of how our students embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, teamwork, and determination. Thank you to all our visitors, volunteers, and local partners for helping inspire the next generation and showing our young people the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

The good news is that we still have some spaces available, so we'd love to welcome even more students to join in the fun!

There have already been lots of laughs, plenty of surprises, and some very questionable drawing skills on display . It's been fantastic to see students getting involved and enjoying time with friends in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

If you'd like to take part, don't miss out - come along and join the fun on Wednesday lunchtime! Ticket still available.

Great company, great challenges, and plenty of laughter guaranteed. We can't wait to see even more
