Definitely agree, it's about your own individual training and goals. We can all achieve them at our own pace.
Check out 1:1 training options and 2 day CBT training options also available to book at VRT.
A lot of learner riders arrive at CBT expecting to leave at the end of the day with their certificate.
So if your instructor tells you that you need more time, it can feel like a failure, especially if other people in the group are progressing more quickly.
But CBT is training. People do not all learn at the same speed, and needing more than one session does not mean you are incapable of becoming a rider.
Some people arrive with years of driving experience, good bicycle balance or previous motorcycle experience. Others are learning clutch control, gears, observations, road positioning and how to manage a completely unfamiliar machine all at once.
That is a lot for your brain to process.
If you are also worried about holding everyone up, being watched or making mistakes, the mental workload becomes even higher.
Your instructor’s job is not to rush you through because the clock says the day is nearly over. It is to make sure you are ready to move onto the next stage safely.
Of course, if there is a skill you need to improve, take responsibility for working on it. More time and practice may be exactly what you need.
But don’t turn “I need more training” into “I’m no good at this.”
Those are very different things.
If learning to ride is starting to feel overwhelming, or you’re comparing yourself with everyone else and questioning whether you can do it, mindset support can help you make sense of what’s getting in the way and approach your training differently.
