WE ARE SORRY BUT DUE TO THE CURRENT COVID SITUATION AND ALSO ILL HEALTH WE ARE NO LONGER CHILD MINDING.

25/09/2021

Well folks, it's a sad day today but a happy one too.

Due the the Covid 19 pandemic we had to close, also due to the pandemic my regular medical attention was suspended.

We have had to make the difficult decision to close Toybox Childminding Services earlier than we would have done and bought our retirement forward. (Sad news)

So as of now Brian and I have retired. (Happy news)

We wish all of the children we have looked after all the best for the future. We wish all the parents joy of their children and we thank you for sharing them with us for a short while.

We would be delighted if you wanted to keep in touch from time to time.

It was lovely knowing you all and sharing part of your lives.

God bless you all.

Still not open - we are eagerly awaiting the Covid 19 vaccination.
We wish all our friends a Happy, safe Christmas and a healthier new year.

Dear parents in UK πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

We have come through nine full weeks since our country went into lockdown.

You have had your children home for more time now than you would if they were on summer holidays. People will say β€˜but they are your responsibility’ and while that is true no-one could be expected to have imagined this period before they chose to conceive.

You have protected, nourished, educated, supported and entertained your children during a period of national and international uncertainty and fear. You have experienced emotions for yourself and your family that you never knew existed, never mind experienced before.

Nine weeks is a long time.

Think about how you feel at the end of the summer holidays, how ready you are for routine, how badly your house needs cleaning, how much work you are ready to catch up on. Remember that exhausting feeling of having so little sleep, much less money and hearing β€˜mummy/daddy’ every time you happen to sit down.

And you wonder why you are exhausted after nine weeks of lockdown?

You are amazing! You have achieved something no other parent ever has! You have faced nine weeks unable to take your child or children anywhere, nine weeks of no parks, holidays to break up the boredom, no day trips, no family to help. On top of that you have juggled work demands, loneliness on a level never experienced before, information overload from the internet and emotional turmoil of not being able to see people you hold dear. Even getting food to eat has been a major drama!

So it’s ok to feel drained. It’s ok to feel like you would sell your soul right now for five minutes alone. It’s ok to feel uninspired about another day of homeschooling, another day of never ending laundry and cooking.

It’s ok to be so very tired.

Nine weeks is a long time.

But you have made it.

Be proud of yourself. Stand tall.

History will show you for your courage, your children will remember this period as a time knowing they were safe and loved and teachers everywhere are deeply grateful that you are there for your children when they should be but can’t be.

In short: you are awesome!

And so are your children. πŸ’•

β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ Copy and paste for those who may need to hear it too β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ

During the Covid-19 pandemic we are genuinely concerned both for our own safety and that of the children and families we serve. We feel that it would be impossible to ensure a safe environment for β€œchildren of all ages” on domestic premises. As a result, we will not be reopening 1st June or for the foreseeable future.

We deeply regret this – we have missed all the children tremendously during lockdown and hate having to let families down, but reopening is a risk we are not prepared to take.

Stay safe.

Carol and Brian Turner

When I was one, I sucked my thumb,
The day I went to sea.
I climbed aboard a pirate ship
And the Captain said to me:
β€˜We’re going this way, that way,
Forwards backwards,
Over the Irish Sea.
A bottle of rum to fill my tum
A Pirates’ life for me’

If you know the song..... Sing along with us and join in the fun πŸ˜€.

Our trip to the Dudley Canal Trust. We had a lovely snack, saw a barge disappear into the tunnel and 'found' a couple of 'lost' fluffy penguins. We had a great time.

Thank you all the staff at the Dudley Canal Trust and in the Gongoozler restaurant. They were very helpful.
