Plum and apple chutney incoming - recipe below (you don’t need to use plums or apples, this recipe will work with any fruit, I’ve added some tumeric and am also using tumeric cider vinegar….) Enjoy!! 😀👍😋


Bods Plum Chutney

2kg plums
500g onions
450g dried fruit (raisins/sultanas or apricots)
1 bulb garlic
50g fresh ginger
1 teaspoon tumeric
2 teaspoons mustard seeds
2 teaspoons mustard powder
750 ml vinegar (I like to use cider vinegar)
Good pinch sea salt
600g light brown sugar

1. Destone the plums and add to the pan. Put on a low heat. Mince the onions, garlic, ginger, chillies and dried fruit in a food processor and add to the saucepan.

2. Remove the lid, add the salt, mustard seeds, mustard powder and vinegar. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook gently until the required consistency is reached. Add the sugar and dissolve it carefully. Stir frequently to prevent the chutney sticking to the bottom of the pan. Warm clean jars in an oven, 120C for 15 minutes.

3. Remove the pan from the heat and ladle the chutney into a glass or plastic jug. Pour the chutney into clean, warm jars, filling them to the brim.
Screw on the lids.
This will last at least a year if not longer!!
