I am Susan Barnicoat an Ofsted Registered Childminder in Threemilestone, Truro, Cornwall - one mile away from Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) and just along the road from Truro College. I have been childminding since 2002 and have looked after well over 100 children of all ages and abilities. I provide a high level of care and high quality nursery education to small numbers of children giving t
hem individual attention to encourage their social skills and independence. I have a wide range of high quality open-ended toys and resources which have been carefully chosen to promote children’s development. My ethos is a play based blend of 'Reggio Emilia' and the 'Curiosity Approach'. Children will be encouraged to spend their time at my setting playing. I support child-led play as it is through their own curiosity driven play that children learn best. Child-led does not mean children are left to run wild. It means I promote good behaviour and follow each child’s individual interests to support their learning and development. Please take a look in my photo albums to see some examples of my childcare and educational activities - each child's individual experiences will be different in accordance with their age and interests, the season, and the availability of new resources that I continue to add to my setting. I have Level 3 Paediatric First Aid, Level 2 Food Safety, Food Allergy Awareness, Introducing Childminding Practice and PACEY Child Protection certificates. In addition to attending many childcare specific courses run by Cornwall Council, I have the Developing Childminding Practice Certificate, Degrees in Early Years and Childhood & Youth Studies, a Masters Degree in Education and a further Masters level Diploma in Education. I have studied Nutrition, Autism and Mental Health. Most of my certificates are shown in the photo albums - please click to 'see all' of the albums so that you can see my university qualifications. I am a member of CORAM PACEY, the Professional Association of Childcare and Early Years, and insured, via CORAM PACEY, by Covea Insurance. I complete CORAM PACEY contracts with parents and send my policies and procedures information via Facebook or email. I am Inspected by Ofsted and have been awarded 'Outstanding' and 'Good' grades. I invoice on Monday each week for payment by Friday. I accept on-line payments and provide receipts. I accept payments via the tax free childcare scheme - find me: EY229406 TR36FD. (My Ofsted number, space, My postcode all in capitals with no space). I currently welcome children under the age of five into my setting and I am happy to access the funding for the 15/30 hours of care and nursery education per term time week. Please note the funding does not cover food or additional services, and is only for 38 weeks of the year. I can stretch the funding to year-round for you which works out at 11 or 22 hours a week. I currently do not provide before / after school care or holiday only childcare. I have two dogs. Non-smoking household. If you would like to contact me to enquire about availability of childcare spaces please let me know the following which will help me to determine if I can meet your childcare needs alongside my existing commitments:
