Fot the last 2 weeks we have been caring for some ducklings .This is part of our summer theme of caring for living things. On 3rd June 2 eggs hatched and Poppy and Tommy were born . The children have seen them drink, eat, sleep, run around and swim .
They have learned words associated with the ducklings and have written words for our displays - ( egg, hatch, beak, feather, duckling, pond, peeping)
Activities linked to learning have included - a colourful duck collage, painting with cotton buds and a collage of Poppy and Tommy for the wall display, and making a pond.
Other crafts included handprints ducklings, counting 1-10 ducking pictures, matching amount to numbers and been singing " 5 little ducks went swimming one day"
The ducklings loved swimming in the water tray .
The first weekend they went to the home of a member of staff who looked after them . The two ducklings have now been adopted and have gone to live on a farm near Chester .
