After 13 years of teaching music in school, and 8 years of providing music to babies and toddlers through Teenie Tunes, Bev and I have made the difficult decision to start stepping back from music. Last week we informed school that we will not be continuing with singing assemblies in September, when children come back from summer holidays. This morning we spoke to our Teenie Tunes parents and told them the same.
It's been a long run, and as time goes on priorities change. It’s time for us to start making our own family more of a priority and spending more time running our accountancy practice that seems to have gone crazy busy lately (not complaining). We have absolutely loved doing music and being a part of the music education in these young children. All we’ve ever wanted to do is inspire them to love music and be the best they can be. We hope that at some point in the last 13 years we’ve managed to achieve that and make a difference in someone’s life.
We’d like to say a big thank you to school for believing in the value of real/live music for so many years, and our TT parents for coming week after week and introducing their children to live music.
Sadly, things don’t last forever and now feels the right time to step back and take time out.
We WILL be continuing to run the choir, provided school are happy for us to continue using the school space to do so, and we’re looking forward to many more concerts with them, like the incredible one last Saturday. What a night!
