🐛🏨 Help us fill our Bug Hotel! 🏨🐜

The children in Key Stage 1 absolutely love our wonderful bug hotel, kindly donated by Thornbury In Bloom— but we need your help to fill in the gaps! 🌿

Do you have any spare:
🪵 Small wooden logs or offcuts
🎋 Bamboo canes
🌲 Pine cones
🍂 Sticks, twigs or other natural materials
🪵 Any other small wooden items you think would make a cosy place for our mini-beasts to stay!

We would be incredibly grateful for any donations to help get our bug hotel ready for its new residents over the winter. 🕷️🐞🐜

This morning Year 1 and 2 came together and along with 6,000 other schools across the country watched a very exciting live session with the British Library.
First, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler read and performed the Gruffalo (with a little help from some other actors). Then they answered some questions, before Julia Donaldson read her brand new story Gruffalo Granny, which was only released yesterday! She told us that we were only the third audience that she has read Gruffalo Granny to! Finally, Axel Scheffler drew Gruffalo Granny for us to watch. It was such an exciting session and we were so excited to listen to this fabulous new story, read by the author herself!

When asked which of her characters Julia Donaldson thought she was most like she said Tiddler, as he was always late for school and likes to make up stories just like Julia herself 📚

We hope you’ve all had a fabulous summer break filled with sunshine, fun and lots of happy memories! ☀️🍦🏖️

We can’t wait to see all of our wonderful Years 1–6 children back in school on Thursday 3rd September! 🎒📚✏️

Before the big day, here’s a little back-to-school checklist ✅:

🥞 Breakfast & After-School Club – Please make sure you have booked any sessions your child needs.

🍎 School Meals – Don’t forget to choose your child’s meal options before Thursday.

👕 Label, label, label! – Please make sure clothes, drinks bottles and lunchboxes are clearly named. This makes it much easier for lost belongings to find their way home! 🏷️😊

We’re getting everything ready for a fantastic new school year and can’t wait to welcome everyone back! 💛🌟

We have said goodbye to our amazing Year 6's as they finish their primary school journey. We are so proud of everything they have achieved, the friendships they have made, and the wonderful memories they leave behind. Wishing each and every one of them the very best as they begin their next exciting chapter in secondary school. Good luck Year 6 - you'll be missed! ❤️🎓✨

Year 1 had an extra special visitor yesterday 🤗 As part of their science topic Year 1 are learning all about different animals and to support their learning Mrs Lewis brought in her tortoise Ozzy for the children to meet. Ozzy is nearly 3 years old and loves to eat weeds. Ozzy’s favourite foods are pansies and dandelions. The children really enjoyed meeting Ozzy today and learnt some wonderful tortoise facts 🐢
