🎣 48-Hour Species Challenge Success! 🏆

FlyZone was delighted to support the Tackle Guru team during their 48-hour species challenge alongside top YouTuber

With a mission to catch as many different species as possible within the allotted time, the team visited the beautiful Low Osgoodby Lake in search of a rainbow trout. Thanks to the kind permission of the fishery, participants were allowed to use methods other than fly fishing for this part of the challenge, helping them target the species required to boost their tally.

The visit proved to be a great success, with plenty of laughs, teamwork, and memorable moments along the way. Most importantly, the species collected throughout the event helped the Tackle Guru team secure the overall victory! 🥇

A huge congratulations to everyone involved and thank you to the fishery for accommodating the challenge.

Four new anglers, one windy day, and a whole lot of learning! 🎣💨

Today at Maran Lakes, four anglers took their first steps into the world of fly fishing, learning both the roll cast and overhead cast for the very first time.

Despite the drizzly weather and a strong right-to-left wind challenging their casting techniques, everyone embraced the conditions, developed new skills, and gained confidence throughout the session.

It’s always rewarding to see beginners progress from their first cast to understanding the fundamentals that will help them continue their fly fishing journey. The best part of the day was hearing the feedback from the anglers themselves, who felt they had learned a huge amount and now have the knowledge to get started on their own fly fishing adventures.

Weather, wind, and water—just another part of the learning experience. Well done to all four anglers for their enthusiasm and determination throughout the day. 👏

🎣🌟 A fantastic milestone today as we delivered our very first junior coarse fishing course at North Yorkshire Water Park Fisheries at Wykeham near Scarborough.

It was brilliant to see young people and their parents learning together, building confidence, developing new skills, and sharing quality time outdoors.

Throughout the day, our safeguarding measures were clearly in place, with parents wearing blue tabards to ensure a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for everyone involved.

The smiles said it all as several young anglers caught their very first fish – moments that will be remembered for years to come. Watching their excitement, determination, and progress throughout the day was incredibly rewarding.

Fishing is about so much more than catching fish. It’s about learning, patience, wellbeing, spending time in nature, and creating lasting memories with family and friends.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make our first event such a success. We can’t wait to welcome more young anglers to the bank soon. If you are a parent, grandparent, guardian who thinks you have an ideal candidate for this activity, who are aged between 7-16 years, then please keep an eye out for more course dates.
