After the wet weather in the summer camps a few weeks ago, I spent yesterday afternoon cleaning all of my gear. Everything was incredibly muddy and I had to wash the cones, plastic wickets and bats all by hand individually, but the tennis balls went nicely in the washing machine! A sort of spring clean in late summer, but I definitely feel better for having done it! 😊🏏😊🏏

Well that’s a wrap again for my summer camps! I hope that the children had a great time. Huge thanks to my amazing coaches for their fabulous work and to the parents who send their wonderful keen children year after year. Also to Rainton CC for the use of the ground and Rainton with Newby Village Hall which is great as a standby venue so we can always go ahead, whatever the weather.

A few shots from my cricket camp yesterday. Next ones 11/12 July and then in the main summer holidays. Bowler definitely going for top of off stump 👏👏. Batter with the maroon cap challenging himself playing the reverse sweep with one of my thin training bats! 👏👏🏏🏏 The older players especially love to use them.

My spring half term and summer camps are now available to book online via my website, including some dates for a hard ball only camp for children that go to schools that break up earlier in July. I got great feedback for last summer's camps. And thank you to those parents that have booked already.

A very good day of cricket today with these fabulous and keen children and my wonderful coaches. Square cut, pull shot, catching skills and some drills to help bowling accuracy were  just some of the things we covered.

Nothing at Christmas I’m afraid as Ripon Grammar School is closed  and not available for sports hall hire over the Christmas break.

Really enjoying watching the ⁦‪T10 League especially after watching some live last year in Abu Dhabi. And a fabulous knock by ex ⁦‪Yorkshire player Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who kindly came on my Zoom kids’ cricket quiz in lockdown, ‬⁩striking at 248!! Top stuff!! 👏🏏👏🏏👏🏏

Some fast paced cricket on TV for your child to watch over the next 10 days or so! It is on Sky Sports but also on FreeSports so hopefully everyone will be able to access it.  Three matches on each day from 12 noon finishing about 6:30 pm. We just happened to be in Abu Dhabi last year when it was on (honestly) so we managed to get to a game or two. Stadium was pretty empty and the TV had piped crowd sound! However, we still enjoyed it and got upgraded to a VIP box when someone saw me talking to one of the Yorkshire players  who I know a little bit! I will definitely be watching some of the games! 😊🏏😊🏏

England v Sri Lanka today reminding me of our fabulous trip to Sri Lanka in 2018. Brought 3 Sri Lanka cricket shirts back to go in a draw for youngsters that I coach, together with a signed match ticket from England WK Ben Foakes. One youngster was even happier as he thought the autograph was from Ben Stokes!! 😊🏏😊🏏

Phoebe was one of the coaches working with me last week on my cricket camp and I am absolutely thrilled to learn that she is now a professional cricketer for Northern Diamonds!! This amazing news comes just a few weeks after she appeared live on Sky Sports as part of the Northern Diamonds team that won the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy at Lord's Cricket Ground in a nail biting victory by just 2 runs! Many congratulations to Phoebe on this fabulous news! 👏🏏👏🏏👏🏏
