Spring has sprung and I couldn’t be happier about it. Enjoying the sun on our backs and spotting all the changes around us as everything wakes up

A wonderful day with friends, watching two woodpeckers, chasing dragonflies, catching frogs, building dams in the stream and exploring skulls and bones.
I always mean to take more pictures but get lost in the moment and forget 🫣

🦴 Dig 🦴
A day out to Dig in York. We caught the park and ride bus, always a highlight for the children before heading to Dig.
We learnt about some of the local history before uncovering some bones and historical features from various ages.
We headed for a picnic with our friends before watching some street performers in York and catching the bus back home.

🐸 Frogs, toads and fungi Forest Scool 🍄 Today’s Forest School session was full of discovery! After the recent rain, the woods came alive 🌧🍄
We spotted both frogs and toads, which sparked a wonderful conversation about their differences. The children noticed that frogs had smooth, moist skin and jumped, while toads had bumpier skin and preferred to crawl.
And thanks to the damp weather, the woods were bursting with fungi of all shapes and sizes — perfect for encouraging careful, respectful exploration and rich language around textures, colours, and habitats. 🍂🪵
Nature is the best classroom, and today it was bursting with lessons, questions, and awe.

🌿 In the Moment Adventures 🌿
Today’s walk led us somewhere unexpected — and magical! ✨
While exploring the outdoors with curious little feet and wondering minds, we stumbled across a surprise — a noughts and crosses board hidden among the trees! 😄🎯 The children were instantly drawn in, turning sticks and stones into a spontaneous game of strategy, giggles, and teamwork.
Moments like these remind us that the best play doesn’t always need planning — sometimes, it just takes a walk, a little curiosity, and nature doing what it does best. 🍃🪵
We love following the children’s lead, letting them guide the day with wonder and imagination. Every walk brings a new story! 📖💚

Pony visits
Occasionally the children get to come up and see our pony, we give him some food, lots of cuddles and give him a brush.
The children have been enjoying being able to develop their confidence with him, love feeling his soft nose, the responsibility of measuring out his feed and deciding if they think he needs his sun cream on. Ponies have such a calming influence on children 🥰
