Sowerby Primary Academy showing us that you can succeed in a sport, even when it's brand new to you!!

12 Year 5/6 pupils represented the school at the Thirsk Area hockey competition yesterday.

Amongst them were some experienced hockey players and some who had only recently picked up a stick for the first time and were using their games knowledge to adapt and play the 4 a side game of quicksticks.

11 school teams from our area attended competition, most sending two teams. We had an exciting afternoon with victories, close games and lots learned! A thrilling tournament. A special mention to those who stepped in at last minute to help out! Another great learning experience of teamwork and pulling together to make us stronger.

You were all amazing and yet again you were a credit to the school.
