Today is a poignant moment for our school’s history as you are the last cohort of A-Level students to say goodbye to TGS as you move on to your exciting new futures ahead.

As an update to the announcement made earlier this week regarding the closure of TGS, one 'Old Thetfordian', Stephen Plume, has sent the following message:

As former pupils, we all have a special connection to TGS and the news of its potential closure will have hit many of us hard. A group of alumni are working hard to explore whether it can be saved and your support could make a real difference. There is a double confirmation process. After you fill in the form on the website, you will receive an email (most likely into your junk folder) which will ask you confirm your request to join.

The OTA Committee are deeply saddened to share the recent news of the intended closure of Thetford Grammar School at the end of this academic year.

The school, one of the oldest in the country (dating back to 631AD), has provided an education to people in the local area in various formats including as a grammar school and independent school in recent history.

It will seem unfathomable to many members that 'our school' will no longer be there, providing the fantastic education that we all enjoyed and benefitted from.

The Committee will continue to offer the school support over the coming months and will keep members of the OTA up to date of any new developments including how this affects the OTA itself.

Rest assured - we are determined that the OTA will live on in one form or another.

Our thoughts are with pupils, parents and staff at this time.

🎄🏃‍♂️ Christmas Canter Marathon – Newmarket 🏃‍♂️🎄

A huge well done to Mr Hill and Mr Tierney, who took part in the fantastic Christmas Canter event near Newmarket just before Christmas.

Mr Hill completed the marathon in an impressive 3 hours 50 minutes, with Mr Tierney close behind, finishing strong in 3 hours 59 minutes.

A great achievement from both runners and a brilliant way to take on a festive challenge. Congratulations! 👏🎉
