Second shootout to Joe. I only had the pleasure of working with Joe for a couple of months, he was predicted a 2 in Literature and a 3 in Language. He passed today with a 4 in Literature and he got his 3 in language and a place on his apprenticeship! So very proud! Well done!

New texts and poetry are being added to the English Literature GCSE examinations for AQA. I believe Eduqas is also making changes and will detail these later. All the new works are being added from September 2023.

New texts added:
🎓Chinonyerem Odimba's Princess & The Hustler,
🎓Winsome Pinnock's Leave Taking
🎓Kit de Waal's My Name is Leon.

The new poetry cluster, Worlds and Lives, is a contemporary collection of 15 poems that includes some well-known names, alongside new and current voices. All the current poetry clusters will remain available for study.

Old texts shelved:
🎓Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro,
🎓The History Boys by Alan Bennett
🎓The play version of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Simon Stephens.

Please note popular text options like An Inspector Calls, Animal Farm, A Christmas Carol remain on the syllabus unchanged.
