What a fun-filled week of outdoor adventures we've had at The Ark!

The children made the most of the outdoors this week, enjoying lots of parachute fun, jumping, dancing, and singing along to their favourite Five Little Monkeys rhymes.

They also enjoyed painting the fence with water, using brushes to make their own marks while developing their fine motor skills. It was a simple activity that provided lots of opportunity for creativity and exploration.

It has been lovely to see the children enjoying so many opportunities to be active, creative, and learn through play in the great outdoors.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒓𝒌 𝑾𝒆𝒆𝒌𝒍𝒚 𝑹𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝑼𝒑
From learning new ways to communicate to getting creative with colours, it's been another wonderful week at The Ark!

This week, our Pelicans and Peacocks explored sign language, learning three simple signs that they can practise at home too:

🤍 Thank you – a simple hand gesture moving from your chin outwards.

🤍 Please – a circular motion using your flat hand against your chest.

🤍 Sorry – a simple circular gesture using your first finger against your chest.

The children talked about how sign language can help us communicate with people who may be hard of hearing, and it was wonderful to see everyone getting involved in this meaningful learning experience. Why not encourage your little ones to show you their new signs at home?

The children also enjoyed lots of mark making, using crayons to create colourful lines, dots, and squiggles. They explored different colours, practised naming them, and even created a rainbow while singing the rainbow song together.

There was plenty of fun to be had too, with adventures in soft play, exploring the garden, and lots of happy play in the sandpit.

It's been a week full of communication, creativity, exploration, and learning through play. Well done to all our little learners!

The key thing to remember is that you should never look directly at the sun, and normal sunglasses aren't protective enough - it's best to get hold of certified eclipse glasses with specially designed filters that meet the international safety standard ISO 12312-2:2015(E) (if you can!)

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒓𝒌 𝑾𝒆𝒆𝒌𝒍𝒚 𝑹𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝑼𝒑
From bug hunting to bubble-filled fun, it's been another exciting week of learning through play at The Ark!

Our children had a fantastic time exploring our bug hunting tray, carefully searching through the grass, leaves, pine cones and corks to discover hidden bugs. Using magnifying glasses and tweezers, they investigated their findings, counted the bugs they discovered, and enjoyed hiding them again for their friends to find. Along the way, the children used their imaginations to talk about where the bugs might live while developing their communication, counting, and problem-solving skills. It was lovely to see everyone sharing resources, taking turns, and working together throughout the activity.

We also made the most of the beautiful sunshine by spending lots of time outdoors. The children had great fun with our new jumbo bubble set, explored the mud kitchen, enjoyed sand play, and embraced all the opportunities for outdoor learning and play.

It has been another week full of curiosity, teamwork, and joyful learning through play. We can't wait to see what adventures next week brings! 🌿✨

This week at The Ark, we've been making the most of the fantastic summer weather with plenty of fun-filled outdoor adventures! ☀️💦

The children have loved spending time outside, enjoying water play, exploring the mud kitchen, and working together during exciting group activities with the parachute. These experiences encouraged teamwork, communication, and plenty of laughter while making the most of the sunshine.

Indoors, the fun continued with a variety of sensory trays, creative painting activities, and energetic soft play sessions, giving the children lots of opportunities to explore, create, and develop their confidence through play.

It's been another wonderful week of learning, discovery, and making happy memories together! 💙

𝑨𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑾𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈: 𝑮𝒖𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑻𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚
As temperatures rise again today, we have taken note that for our region there is an Amber warning for heat. The temperatures are set to climb to mid 30’s and we are expecting high humidity levels.

We are, as always, trying to keep the rooms as cool as possible and children comfortable, but this can be challenging in such conditions. We will have water available at all times and will minimise physical activity.

Please do ensure your child comes into nursery with suncream already applied and spare to reapply. Please do also bring an empty named water bottle for your child
