Happiness is… having a dance family who, no matter the distance, continues to turn up time and time again. We are incredibly grateful to every single one of our dancers for your amazing support. What a wonderful two days of dancing, laughter and friendship, we couldn’t have asked for more!

A huge special thank you to Sonia Rafferty for delivering our very first workshop and helping make the weekend so special.

And the best news? We’ll be back in Newbury in January for more of the same!

We can’t wait to dance with you all again.

I am delighted to share that NOCTURN has been awarded the Creative Scotland National Lottery Open Fund for Organisations.

This funding develops the next chapter of Good Enough: Multisensory Q***r Storytelling, through ongoing conversations and movement workshops with gay, bisexual and trans men, and others who were raised and read as male, across Scotland and online.

These exchanges will shape the content of our handcrafted story box and seed a new digital archive of voices, images and choreographic fragments, held in a VR-headset experience and encountered as an accompaniment to the installation.

At its heart this is about the wanting to be enough, the parts of ourselves we learn to keep hidden, and what it means to be truly seen across a lifetime.

Thank you to all our partners who make this possible: OurStory Scotland, Sanctuary Q***r Arts, Cove Park, Artlink Central, The Work Room, CityMoves Dance Agency SCIO, Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Eden Court, Birnam Arts and Dancin Oxford. Thank you to Switchboard LGBT+, our welfare partner throughout. And thank you to our creative collaborators and everyone contributing their stories and their movement to this next chapter.

There is more to come. We cannot wait to share it.

Beautiful studio. Final week of movement making for Good Enough.

Next month: our online cohort of q***r men make movement.

They capture it. We honour it in the work.

Thank you Eden Court Theatre and Cinema for hosting our residency. A real joy.

We are back in the studio. I totally love the inside outside relationship of Eden Court Theatre and Cinema dance studios. A very inspiring place to work. One week to get this movement for Good Enough nailed down.

We're gathering stories from across the UK from gay, bi and trans men over 50 across the UK. We want yours.

What we're looking for: Stories about staying closeted. The work of living two lives at once. Rural q***r life. What you held back when you couldn't be out. Etc.

Your safety matters. We're working with Switchboard LGBT+ on how we care for people's stories throughout this project.

When we first started talking about the technology in Good Enough, the question wasn't what can we use. It was what do people already carry with them.

A phone. The most personal device any of us own. The thing we hold when we're alone, when we're looking for connection or hiding from it. For q***r men, that relationship runs deeper. It's where identity gets explored privately, long before it's shared publicly.

So in Good Enough, the phone becomes the way in. It triggers sound, reveals hidden layers, guides you through someone's inner world at your own pace. A device you already understand, holding a story.

As our Creative Technologist Christopher Hunt says: "The phones in our pockets are the most powerful computers we have. To take that device, something you probably already own and understand, and transform it into something that can be so much exponentially more, that's really exciting."

We're gathering stories from gay, bi and trans men across the UK. Take part, visit our website.

When we launched Good Enough, we built it around q***r men in Scotland. But since the call-out went live, we’ve been hearing from men across the UK who recognise themselves in this work and want to share their story too.

So we’re opening it up.

If you're a gay, bi or trans man anywhere in the UK and something here connects, the masking, the performing, the years of managing who you let people see, we want to hear from you.

Do you have a story about...

The exhaustion of watching yourself all evening, your laugh, your hands, whether anyone could tell?

A moment your body relaxed because you were finally around people who knew?

The version of yourself you built for work, for family, for the world, and what it cost to maintain?

A rage that had nowhere to go, or came out sideways, or turned inward?

The first time someone saw you clearly, and what that felt like?
Something you carried for years that you've never quite said out loud?

You don't need to answer any of these directly. They're just doors. If one opens something, follow it.

Share your story online, written or as a voice recording. A few sentences is enough. You don't need to be in Scotland. You don't need to be a writer. You just need something true.
