Our Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) students headed to the British Library last week for a Research Matters session, getting their EPQ journey off to a brilliant start.
The interactive session introduced students to a huge world of fascinating research resources, from manuscripts, maps and magazines to academic journals and audio recordings. They also had the chance to explore the Treasures Gallery, home to incredible historical artefacts including the Magna Carta and King Henry VIII’s Bible.
For students embarking on an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), the session was a great introduction to what academic research can really look like — and a reminder that there’s a whole world of knowledge beyond the first page of Google!
Doing an EPQ gives students the opportunity to dive deep into a subject they’re passionate about, completing either a 5,000-word dissertation or an artefact project alongside a 2,000-word essay.
