🏏 Winning Start to the Thame League Cricket Season! 🏏

We kicked off our Thame League cricket fixtures today with a match against John Hampden, and we’re delighted to say that Barley Hill came away as overall winners 255 - 227 🙌

It was a fantastic team performance, with excellent batting, sharp fielding, some brilliant bowling and, above all, outstanding team spirit on display throughout the match.

A huge well done to everyone involved. We now look forward to our next fixture against Long Crendon at Thame Cricket Club next week.

Swimming Gala Success! 🏊‍♀️

A huge congratulations to our Barley Hill Swim Team, made up of children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, who represented the school so brilliantly at this afternoon’s swimming gala at St Andrew’s School.

Our swimmers competed with determination, confidence and fantastic sportsmanship throughout the event. They secured an impressive number of victories in both the individual races and relay events, showcasing their hard work and talent.

We are incredibly proud of the way they represented Barley Hill—well done to every swimmer for such a fantastic achievement! 🌟👏

Today, we were delighted to welcome Mr Knowles to school to officially launch our Thame Clean Air Walking Map! 🌿🚶‍♂️

Earlier this year, some of our Year 6 pupils worked alongside Tom to carry out air quality tests around the local area, monitoring pollution levels on different roads. Their important work has helped contribute to the creation of a map that highlights the cleanest walking routes around Thame.

This has been a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to take part in real-world scientific research and make a positive contribution to our local community. You can see the map on our Denbigh Gate and children will be given a map this Friday.

A huge thank you to Tom, Thame Town Council and South Oxfordshire District Council for involving us in this brilliant project. We are very proud of our Year 6 pupils and the part they have played in helping to make Thame a healthier place to walk! 💚

🦆🏆 We’re absolutely delighted to share that Barley Hill won the Thame Duck Race 2026! 🏆🦆

A huge thank you to everyone who bought a duck ticket in support of Barley Hill. Your incredible support helped make this happen and we’re so grateful to our wonderful school community. A huge thank you to our amazing Barley Hill School PTFA for promoting!

Every pound raised will go directly to the school, helping to provide even more opportunities and resources that will benefit all of our children.

A huge thank you to St Mary's Church, Thame for coming in to do an assembly on our final value of the academic year - ambition. It was great to reflect on how we may have been ambitious this half term and also reminding ourselves of our values ambassador Billy Monger. The children also loved the link to the current World Cup!

A huge GOOD LUCK to some of our amazing Year 6 children who are currently in Portugal competing with their Cheer Team! 🇵🇹📣 💃

We are incredibly proud of their dedication and hard work. Earlier this year, they held a fantastic cake sale fundraiser at school to help raise money towards their exciting journey — and we loved seeing our school community get behind them.

We can’t wait to hear all about their experience and see how they get on. We know they will represent themselves, their team and our school brilliantly.

Graylings are going through to Day 2 in 1ST PLACE!!! 💛🏆

It’s been a turbulent 24 hours in Portugal, with some significant last minute changes needed across the routine. But they have shown incredible resilience, adapting quickly and working tirelessly to learn and perfect those changes in less than ideal conditions. (on a hill, at 8pm 😂)

However they have taken every challenge in their stride and absolutely smashed their performance today. We couldn’t be prouder of how they’ve responded and supported one another throughout.

We’re so excited to see them take to the floor again tomorrow🎀💕
