πŸ₯Š From nervous beginner to confident striker. The Kun Gek-Do progression.

We know what it's like starting a martial art as an adult. The hesitation. The "am I too old?" question. The worry about being the only new person in the room. We've heard it all, and we've watched every single one of those concerns dissolve within the first few sessions.

Here's what the progression actually looks like for a new Kun Gek-Do student:

βœ… Week one, you learn stance, guard and basic footwork. Nothing complicated. Just foundations.
βœ… Week two, you start pad work with a partner. You're hitting something real for the first time.
βœ… Week three, combinations start to flow. Your body begins to move without overthinking.
βœ… Month two, you're holding pads for others. Helping newer students. Part of the group.
βœ… Month three, you look back and realise you couldn't have done any of this twelve weeks ago.

That's not exceptional. That's standard. It's what happens when instruction is structured, progressive and patient. πŸ”₯

What makes it work is that nobody is rushed. You learn at your pace, with training partners who've been exactly where you are. The group supports you because everyone remembers their own first session. πŸ™Œ

If you've been thinking about it but putting it off, this is your sign. Two weeks free. No contracts. Nothing to lose except the hesitation.

πŸŒ™ Friday night. The best way to end your week.

There's something special about training on a Friday evening. The week is done. Work is behind you. The weekend stretches ahead. And for ninety minutes, you get to put everything down and focus entirely on something that's just for you.

That's what Kun Gek-Do on a Friday night offers. Not a workout you have to get through. Not a session you dread. A proper, engaging, challenging hour and a half that leaves you feeling genuinely better than when you walked in. πŸ₯Š

What makes Friday night training different:

βœ… It's a ritual. The same time, the same place, every week. Easy to build into a routine.
βœ… It's a release. Everything from the week gets processed through pad work and technique.
βœ… It's social. You're training with people you know, not strangers in a gym.
βœ… It's rewarding. You finish the week having learned something real, not just burned calories.
βœ… It sets the tone. You go into the weekend feeling capable, not drained.

Our students tell us Friday night Kun Gek-Do is the highlight of their week. Not a chore. Not an obligation. Something they genuinely look forward to. πŸ”₯

🀝 The group that trains together stays together.

One of the things that surprises new Kun Gek-Do students most is how quickly they feel part of something. This isn't a room of strangers training in silence. It's a group of people who know each other, support each other and genuinely want each other to improve.

That doesn't happen by accident. It's built into how we structure sessions:

βœ… Partner work rotates, so everyone trains with everyone over time
βœ… More experienced students actively help newer ones
βœ… Every round starts and ends with a handshake or tap of gloves
βœ… Achievements are celebrated collectively, not just individually
βœ… Nobody is left struggling alone, someone always steps in

What that creates is a training environment with real warmth underneath the hard work. Friday nights at White Tiger feel different because of it. People arrive after a long week and walk into a room where they're known, supported and pushed in the right way. πŸ”₯

If you've tried gym-based fitness and felt invisible, this is the opposite of that. You'll be seen, you'll be helped, and you'll be part of something from week one.

We're the only academy in Tewkesbury teaching Kun Gek-Do with its own dedicated syllabus. Two weeks free trial, teens and adults welcome.

πŸ₯Š "I never thought I'd be the kind of person who does martial arts."

We hear this regularly from new Kun Gek-Do students. There's a perception that martial arts is for a particular type of person, naturally athletic, confident, maybe a bit fearless. The reality couldn't be further from the truth.

Our Korean Kickboxing students are teachers, nurses, office workers, parents, students, retirees. People who'd never thrown a punch before walking through our door. People who were nervous on week one and now can't imagine their week without Friday night training. πŸ”₯

What they all have in common isn't athleticism or fearlessness. It's simply that they decided to start. That's the only qualification you need.

βœ… No experience required
βœ… No fitness prerequisite
βœ… No "type" of person we're looking for
βœ… Just a willingness to turn up and try

Kun Gek-Do meets you where you are and builds from there. Technique is taught progressively. Fitness develops naturally. Confidence grows session by session. And the group around you is made up of people who felt exactly the same hesitations you might be feeling now. πŸ™Œ

If you've been telling yourself you're "not the type", come and prove yourself wrong. Two weeks free, no contracts.

πŸ›‘οΈ Awareness first. Technique second. Always.

The most important self-defence skill we teach in Kun Gek-Do isn't a strike. It's the ability to read a situation before it develops. That's where real safety begins, and it's something our Chief Instructor brings from over 20 years of front-line police service.

The best defence is never needing to defend yourself at all. So before we teach anyone to strike, we teach them to:

βœ… Read their environment with honest awareness
βœ… Trust their instincts when something feels wrong
βœ… Carry themselves with quiet confidence
βœ… Recognise and avoid potential threats early

From that foundation, we build the physical tools. Pad work, controlled sparring and scenario training all develop the ability to respond if avoidance isn't possible. Not through panic, but through trained, calm reaction. 🧠

What that creates is a particular kind of confidence. Not bravado. Not aggression. Just the quiet assurance that comes from knowing you've thought about it, trained for it, and can handle it if it ever happens.

That peace of mind is something every teen and adult deserves. And it's available right here in Tewkesbury.

πŸ“… Fridays, 7 to 8:30pm at Wheatpieces Community Centre, Tewkesbury. Two weeks free trial.

πŸ₯Š What makes Kun Gek-Do different from every other kickboxing class in the area?

It's a question worth answering properly, because the difference is real and it matters.

Kun Gek-Do isn't a generic cardio kickboxing session. It's a proper Korean combat discipline that blends three distinct martial arts into one coherent system:

βœ… Taekwon-Do's precision, kicks, footwork and traditional structure
βœ… Muay Thai's close-range power, elbows, knees and clinch work
βœ… Boxing's hand speed, head movement and combinations

That combination doesn't exist in a standard kickboxing class. It's a modern, practical discipline with its own syllabus, its own belt system and its own standards, and we're the only academy in the Tewkesbury area teaching it. πŸ”₯

What that means for students is genuine depth. You're not just punching pads for fitness. You're learning a complete striking system that builds real capability, session by session, grade by grade.

The Friday evening slot is the perfect end to the week. Ninety minutes to switch off from everything else, train hard, and walk out feeling sharper than when you walked in.

πŸ“… Fridays, 7 to 8:30pm at Wheatpieces Community Centre, Tewkesbury. Two weeks free trial for teens and adults.

Got a question about starting? Just ask, we're happy to talk it through. πŸ’¬

πŸ₯‹πŸ”₯ FATHER & SON TRAINING TOGETHER! πŸ”₯πŸ₯‹

A big well done to Raff and Filip, who joined our Kun Gek-Do class last night after transitioning across from our Taekwon-Do class! πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ

They both did really well and quickly discovered that Kun Gek-Do is a pretty physical workout! πŸ₯΅πŸ₯‹ There was plenty of movement, technique, effort and energy, and both Raff and Filip rose to the challenge brilliantly. πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

One of the things we love most about what we do is seeing families training together. Father son, father daughter, husband and wife. ❀️

There’s something really special about a father and son stepping onto the mats together, learning together, challenging each other and sharing an experience that goes beyond the class itself.

They get to do something together, grow together and create memories together. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¦πŸ₯‹

Years from now, it won't just be the techniques they remember. It will be the laughs, the hard sessions, the little achievements, the encouragement and those moments spent side by side on the mats.

Keep training together, Raff and Filip! πŸ‘Š We’re looking forward to seeing you both continue to develop and grow through Kun Gek-Do. 🌟

⭐πŸ₯‹ STAR OF THE LESSON! πŸ₯‹β

A huge well done to Darcey, who was chosen as our Star of the Lesson in last night’s Kun Gek-Do class! πŸŒŸπŸ‘

Darcey was chosen by Mrs W, who was taking the main group whilst Mr W spent some time working with our newcomers.

What really stood out about Darcey wasn't just her own training, but the way she was helping those around her. ❀️

She was explaining things to the other students, helping them understand what they needed to do and, importantly, making sure her partner was supported too. 🀝πŸ₯‹

Darcey also showed some fantastic memory recall, remembering techniques and instructions really well and putting that knowledge into practice. 🧠πŸ’ͺ

Being a great martial artist isn't just about what you can do yourself. It's also about helping others, encouraging your training partners and being someone that others can learn from.

Darcey demonstrated all of that last night, and she should be incredibly proud of herself! 🌟

Well done, Darcey! Keep up the fantastic work. πŸ‘ŠπŸ₯‹ We're looking forward to seeing what you achieve next!

⚑ The hour and a half that changes the rest of your week.

That's what a lot of our Kun Gek-Do students tell us. Friday evening, 7pm, they walk into the Dojang carrying the week on their shoulders. Ninety minutes later they walk out lighter, sharper and genuinely proud of what they just did. That's a benefit no gym membership replicates.

What that hour and a half delivers:

βœ… A full physical reset, strength, conditioning and technique in one
βœ… Mental clarity, you can't overthink life when you're reading a pad drill
βœ… Real skills that build session on session
βœ… A group of training partners who genuinely want you to succeed

Kun Gek-Do isn't a workout. It's a discipline. And the difference shows in how our students carry themselves, on the mat and well beyond it. πŸ₯Š

We're the only academy in Tewkesbury teaching Korean Kickboxing with its own syllabus and belt system. If you're curious, the best way to understand it is to try it.

πŸ₯Š Capable beats comfortable, every single time.

There's a particular confidence that only comes from knowing your body can do something difficult. That's the benefit Kun Gek-Do delivers, and it's one gym sessions rarely touch. You're not just working out. You're learning to move, read, react and respond with real technique.

What training with us builds:

βœ… Genuine striking skills, taught properly and safely
βœ… Fitness that translates into how you carry yourself
βœ… Mental sharpness and faster decision-making
βœ… Composure under pressure, not panic
βœ… The quiet confidence of knowing you can handle yourself

Our students come from all walks of life. Some have never thrown a punch. Some have trained elsewhere. All of them find the same thing, a structured, welcoming group that pushes them to grow. πŸ”₯

We're the only academy in Tewkesbury teaching Kun Gek-Do with its own dedicated syllabus. That matters, and you'll feel the difference from the first session.
