Welcome to Term 6!

The final term of the school year is here, and it promises to be one of our busiest, most exciting and memorable yet!

Across the school, our children will be embarking on incredible learning adventures, exploring everything from space, oceans and exciting journeys to Anglo-Saxons, migration through British history and early settlements. They'll investigate animals, including humans, experiment with light and reflection, discover fascinating myths and legends, and develop their digital skills through programming quizzes and data logging.

Learning will be brought to life through hands-on experiences as children cook delicious creations in Food Technology, design and build pneumatic toys and mechanical systems, compose music, learn new instruments, and express themselves through sculpture, art and performance. Our youngest children will be using their imaginations to travel by train, dive beneath the waves and blast off into space, while older pupils continue to challenge themselves with French, Spanish, creative design and a wide range of sporting activities.

Term 6 is about so much more than the classroom. It's a season filled with special memories as we head off on school trips, cheer each other on at our Sports Days, come together as a community at our Summer Fayre, and celebrate the many achievements of our children.

We'll also be marking important milestones with transition activities to help everyone prepare for September, applauding our talented performers in the Year 2 Leavers' Production, and giving our wonderful Year 6 pupils the send-off they deserve with their spectacular end-of-year production.

It promises to be a term full of learning, laughter, friendship and celebration. We can't wait to share every adventure, achievement and special moment with you over the coming weeks. Here's to an unforgettable Term 6!

We have loved every moment of having our 15 little ducklings with us, but the time came for them to begin their next adventure.

They now have a beautiful new home with lots of space to swim, explore, paddle, and grow. Watching them happily investigating their new surroundings was so special.

Thank you to the Wilkinson family for offering this wonderful environment for our ducklings next journey.

Thank you, mummy duck, for choosing our courtyard garden once again. For over 20 years, this magical tradition has brought so much joy to our children, and we feel very lucky to have been part of your story once more.

In assembly this week the children heard about awe and wonder moments, little moments of fascination, curiosity and joy.

The waiting is over… 🦆🐣

This morning, our courtyard garden was filled with the sweetest surprise — 15 tiny ducklings have arrived!

After days of careful waiting on her nest, our much-loved duck mum has officially welcomed her fluffy new family into the world, and the children could hardly contain their excitement. Tiny cheeps, wobbly little feet, and lots of smiles have filled the garden today.

For over 20 years, this special tradition has continued at our school. Each spring, a duck chooses our garden as the safest place to bring new life into the world, and every year it feels just as magical as the first.

The ducklings are now exploring their little temporary home, complete with food, water, and their very own pool, while we help keep them safe until they are ready for their next adventure to the pond.

Fifteen tiny reminders that sometimes the most wonderful magic happens quietly, one spring morning at a time. 💛

This term we’re busy—ready, steady, go!
From Romans to robots, watch our learning grow.
We’re building strong bodies, running and play,
With rounders and athletics leading the way.
We’ll write short sentences, share how we feel,
Growing great habits—confident and real.
From monarchs and portraits to faiths we explore,
Islam, Christianity, and so much more.
We’ll code, loop, remix—make programs that run,
Debugging and creating—learning is fun!
With pitch, melody, percussion and beat,
Our music will have you tapping your feet
From rainforests lush to deserts so dry,
Plants, forces, and light—discovering why 🌱
With French, media, art and sculptures to make,
This term is full—watch how much we create!

Monday morning took an out-of-this-world turn when our students arrived to find a mysterious spaceship crash-landed right in our vegetable patches, scattering sparkling “diamonds” across the soil! 🚀✨

This unexpected discovery has ignited some truly incredible creative writing, inspired by The Hackney Martian by Paul Brown. Imaginations have been running wild as pupils piece together what might have happened…

As if by magic, our mystery visitor appeared just as the Lyrid meteor shower lights up the night skies this week. 🌠

The question now is… can we track down the alien responsible? 👽
The hunt is well and truly on!

For over 20 years, a quiet little tradition has unfolded in our courtyard garden… 🦆
Each spring, a duck arrives.
Not always the same one—but perhaps a daughter, or even a granddaughter of those who came before. She chooses our garden, settles into her nest, and begins her patient wait.
And so do we.
Each day, the children peek out, full of hope and excitement, wondering… “Will today be the day?”
Days pass, then suddenly—tiny cracks, soft cheeps… and new life appears. Fluffy ducklings, small and curious, greeted with smiles, wonder, and a little bit of awe.
We care for them gently—providing food, a little pool to paddle in, and a safe space to grow. For a short while, our garden becomes their world.
Until the time comes.
With care and calm hands, we help them on their next journey—taking them to a large pond where they can swim, explore, and live freely, just as they should.
And every year, as we wave them off, we wonder…
“Will she return next time?”
And somehow… she always does.
This year is no different.

She’s back. She’s nesting. And once again, the waiting begins… 🐣

We’ll keep you posted.

and so many more.
