What a few days at the British Showjumping Just For Schools Summer Championships at Stoneleigh Park for the Greenhill School teams! π΄π
The Greenhill High Flyers β Issie Allen, Hollie Beynon and Liberty Secombe β put up a fantastic challenge, especially as they were competing a member down.
In the 80cm, the girls came incredibly close, missing out on the win by just one fault. All three girls played their part in keeping Greenhill right in contention in a very competitive championship. Issie, who went into the championships sitting 5th in the individual league, jumped a brilliant clear and was unlucky to have just one pole in the jump-off. Liberty produced a good performance, showing great consistency under pressure, while Hollie also rode brilliantly and helped the three-girl team put themselves within touching distance of the win.
It was just as close in the 90cm, with the High Flyers again missing out on 1st place by only one fault. It was a tough championship track, with many teams not managing to get all their combinations home, making the girlsβ result even more impressive. Issie, Hollie and Liberty all stepped up to the bigger track and showed some fantastic riding, determination and teamwork to keep Greenhill competitive right to the end.
The Greenhill Rockets β Frankie Fox, Isla Perry and Sofia Perry β also did themselves proud on what was a huge stage for them. Frankie put in a strong performance, while Isla and Sofia had a few moments where things just didnβt quite fall their way. All three girls showed exactly the attitude you want to see β determination, big smiles and support for one another, taking the experience in their stride and learning so much from competing at a national championship.
The girls then went on to represent the Welsh Academy, gaining even more experience and enjoying a brilliant few days together. Hollie and her Welsh Academy team also achieved a fantastic 10th place in a huge and very competitive class.
There were a few moments where the results were agonisingly close, but so much for all six girls to be proud of. They rode with determination, supported each other and represented Greenhill School and Wales brilliantly.
A fantastic few days at Stoneleigh, lots learnt and some very special memories made. ππ΄π΄
