Information
My name is Amanda and I am a registered childminder and I aim to provide a high quality childminding service that allows children to learn and develop in a safe, secure home-based environment. Play will be at the centre of the child’s learning and development and a wide range of activities and experiences appropriate to the age and stage of development will be offered. I am currently
registered with the CIW to care for boys and girls from birth to age 12, but can also care for children over 12 outside of school hours. I can look after 10 children in total, with no more than 6 under the age of 8 years and of those no more than 3 under full time school age. Within these ratios, I have taken into account my own children, any planning restrictions in my area and the floor space requirements under the National Minimum Standards. I have an assistant to help me in caring for children as and when required, DBS checked. This then allows me more flexibility with my child/adult ratios. My service
My terms and conditions will be discussed with each family during our initial meeting, and a contract will be signed in agreement to this, parents will keep one copy and I will keep the other, this will be reviewed as and when necessary should any changes be made otherwise it will be reviewed annually. Parents will be asked to read through my policies and procedures and sign to say they agree with them, plus an additional information form and consent form will need to be completed. My service is open to all children and families, and I may be able to care for children with additional needs. I am able to offer childcare from birth to teens, to include Full or Half Day care and after school, holiday care, full-time and term-time. I live close to St Florence school and school pick-ups can be discussed on an individual basis. My hours of opening are 8am until 5pm Mon-Thur and 8am-3.00pm Friday, however I am very flexible to discuss individual needs if hours need to be adjusted or varied. Should any additional training be required to help me care for a child’s particular needs I will be happy to do this. I will discuss with you ‘the parent or carer’ and be happy to offer settling in periods for your child, the length of this may vary as each child’s needs differ. I will keep parents informed on how the child is settling in over the first few sessions by text message. All of the children’s personal information is keep confidential and kept in a file which is out of reach and view and nobody has access to it. A little bit about myself, my family and my home
I am married and a mother of three children. I have various pets at home, as I feel having pets can be a wonderful and rewarding experience for the whole family. Here are just a few reasons why I feel it is a great idea to encourage children to be around animals:
• Pets make loyal, lovable friends
• Pets teach you how to take care of others
• Pets teach you about responsibility
• A pet can help you learn about animals
• Playing with pets can make you feel happy
• Having a pet can keep you from feeling lonely
• Pets are good for your health
• Your whole family and your friends can share the benefits of having a pet in your lives
I have very friendly dogs, which are kept in separate areas of the garden & house during the day. We do walk the dogs and the children do get to meet them regularly. We have fish a canary, chickens and ducks. My children enjoy and help us care for our pets. Facilities available
My house is in a lovely rural village called St Florence and we have off road parking. The areas we use in our house are:
Hallway
Kitchen / additional area to the side
Lounge
Bathroom
Outside Playground
Upstairs bedroom is only used for sleeping babies in a travel cot
Our kitchen is large with an island, where meal times can be enjoyed together, messy play, arts and crafts, painting and play dough plus a separate area off the kitchen for story time or quieter activities, puzzles and colouring etc. We also have a nice size lounge and area for toys, our bathroom is on the same level as the play area and lounge, which allows for an easier transition from nappy to toilet and also helps with building your child’s independence when toileting and washing hands. I have a lovely playground which is secure and fenced. We are also surrounded by woodland and have an extension to our garden where the chickens and ducks are kept. I live close to the leisure centre and various parks and beaches are in easy proximity. My house is surrounded by countryside, so safe walking will be a regular event. I have regular outings to the beach, park, farms, theme parks and local play / toddler groups. I will use my knowledge and experience of the foundation phase with the children to provide a varied and stimulating day. My first language is English, however, I can understand very basic Spanish and French and have a basic understanding of Welsh. I work in close partnership with parents to meet the needs of the children in my care.
