Class one have been very busy since the summer holidays. We have been following maps around school, going for a ‘senses’ walk, investigating objects from around the world, drawing a journey and making play dough for our topic, ‘Passports at the Ready’.

💧 Earthwatch UK WaterBlitz 💧

Today, Class 2 headed down to the Ford to take part in the Earthwatch UK WaterBlitz!

We had a fantastic time collecting water samples and testing them for nitrates and phosphates. We’ll be submitting our results this week and then looking at the data that comes back to see what we can learn about the health of our local water.

While we were there, we also carried out a litter pick to help keep our local waterways and environment clean. ♻️

The children had a brilliant time taking their learning out of the classroom and into our local environment. Plenty of photos to follow!

This Thursday we will be hosting an open afternoon for all parents to attend. This is an informal event where staff will be on hand for a chat and to share information about classroom life, discuss routines and share what we have been doing so far this term.

Parents evenings with individual appointments will be held later on in the term.

A reminder that this coming Monday is Roald Dahl Day here at St Florence.

Wednesday also gives the pupils in Years 2-6 an opportunity to take part in the Small Schools Cross Country event at Penrhyn (Hundleton), if your child would like to take part please email or message staff on dojo to make them aware. We will be looking for parents support in transporting the pupils should they wish to attend.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

"This coming Monday, we will be celebrating the wacky and wonderful world of Roald Dahl.

The children will enjoy a day of storytelling, creative writing, wordplay, illustration and a range of other 'splendiferous' activities.

Should the children wish they are welcome to come to school dressed as a favourite Roald Dahl character. Costumes can be as simple and imaginative as you like - there is absolutely no need to buy anything. Alternatively, children may wear something yellow or bring a small character-inspired prop.

If they have a favourite Roald Dahl book at home, they are also welcome to bring it in for our shared reading activities. (Please make sure that it is clearly named.)

We look forward to a day filled with brilliant books, curious characters and plenty of gobblefunk!"
