⚠️ Hot Weather Update – Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday ⚠️
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you will have seen, the forecast for tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday is currently showing temperatures reaching the high 30s. Whilst we will be taking every possible step to keep children comfortable, we would like to make families aware that our nursery building can become extremely warm during periods of hot weather and we do not have aircon.
At present the plan is to stay open, if this changes we will let you know as soon as we know
We will be implementing additional measures throughout the day, including:
💧 Lots of water breaks
🌳 Only using the garden when UV isn't high
🏃 Reducing strenuous physical activities
🧊 Providing cooling activities such as water and ice play
🌬 Using fans and increasing ventilation where possible
👒 Ensuring children wear appropriate clothing for the weather
Please ensure your child arrives with:
A named sun hat and sun cream applied if your child attends the morning sessions
Suitable lightweight clothing and changes of clothes for water play
Please monitor your child closely before attending nursery and keep them at home if they appear unwell.
Signs of heat exhaustion can include:
Excessive tiredness or unusual sleepiness
Headache
Dizziness
Feeling sick or being sick
Pale, clammy or sweaty skin
Fast breathing
Irritability or confusion
Heat exhaustion can develop into heatstroke if not treated quickly.
Heatstroke is a medical emergency. Signs can include:
A very high temperature
Hot skin that may be red and dry
Rapid breathing
Confusion or unusual behaviour
Loss of consciousness
🤒If your child becomes unwell during the day, or if we feel the temperature is affecting their ability to remain comfortable and safe within the setting, we may contact parents to discuss collection.
🥵If you feel uncomfortable bringing your child in to nursery due to the heat, we completely understand your decision. Please inform us via a Famly message or give us a call to let us know.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we work together to keep all children safe during the hot weather.
