Congratulations to all of our Upper Sixth students getting their and results today! We are all so proud of all the hard work you put in and wish you the best of luck for the future. Today you become an Old Wrekinian - welcome! Old Wrekinian Association
Thank you to all the Old Wrekinans and former parents who joined us at Wrekin for the reunion weekend!

The weekend featured an OWA House cricket tournament, with a beer bus and bouncy castles to keep all the family entertained and, a Mexican Fiesta in the evening.

On Sunday, there was the traditional OWA cricket fixtures were held against the school with some great skill on show and victories for the experienced OWA sides.

Thank you to everyone who played, supported and came to catch up with their school and fellow OWs, we look forward to welcoming you back again next summer!

I bumped into an Old Wrekinian in Marks and Spencer… (sort of)… stunning lingerie by Damaris Evans!
Martin Thouless taught me maths in the sixth form in a group of about a dozen. He allowed us to work at our own pace so the group fragmented and James Christie, James Thomas and I formed a subgroup of three. He was possibly not the most brilliant mathematician but this contributed to has being a superb teacher. When we had a problem, he would work with us, trying different approaches until we succeeded. We therefore learned far more than we would have done if he had simply trotted out the appropriate answer, but he had to work very hard. We all three got into Oxbridge, I was lucky enough to get an open scholarship to read physics at St.John's Oxford, I think mainly due to the applied maths paper which asked us to complete at least five of eight questions, all needing different approaches. I completed all eight and I know they were right.
He would always go out of his way to help. He spotted that Christie had talent as a hurdler and spent hours coaching his technique until it was superb. I had long gone before his elevations to house master and head of maths but I can picture him as a Mr Chips.

The oldest tree at Wrekin is having a make-over! The tree had to be cut down for safety reasons a few years ago, but it is being brought new life with the help of Old Wrekinian Association and The Chainsaw Bloke

The Wrekin community joined together this morning for a moving Remembrance service where we remembered all those, including the many Old Wrekinians, who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Pupils stood to represent each Old Wrekinian read out on the Roll of Honour, and pupils, staff and parents paid their own silent tributes as they laid their poppies on the chancel steps. Thank you to OW Lt Lee (B: 2012-18) for attending and placing the wreaths on the Chapel Memorials.

Our CCF marched through Wellington, along with other local organisations, to pay their respects at the town's memorial.

Despite the change in date, the purpose of our first-ever Giving Day, where you can have a direct impact on transforming the lives of ambitious young people, remains very much the same.
