Dear Parents and Carers,
New faces
We’d like to introduce Danielle Hayward who is joining us as a playworker from the start of the January term. Dannie has worked in Randlay Primary training to be a teaching assistant and we are very happy to have her on board as a valued team member. You may recognise her from the local Randlay shop where she has worked and lived in Randlay for a long time too.
Danielle will be covering Tasha as she is leaving to go to open another after school club/breakfast club over at HLC Primary School. Tasha will still be part of Rockets working behind the scenes and will be back from time to time to see you all. If any of your children have any worries or concerns, please let us know so we can make this transition as smooth as possible. Tasha will miss al the children very much. Danielle will be coming in this term to introduce herself and meet the children.
Coming up
We will be working on some Hanukkah -themed crafts this week and later this month will be having a go at making a melted snowman. In the run-up to Christmas, we will be having lots of festive games and activities and will be holding our Christmas party, date to be confirmed.
Covid
When collecting your children from club please be mindful of other parents and keep to the 2m rule where you can and wear a mask. If there is a parent in the waiting area, please wait at a safe distance outside until they leave.
We adhere to covid rules set by the government and are constantly being updated with legislation and changing when needed.
Fees and attendance
May we remind you that if your child is sick or absent from school, please inform us on the clubs phone/ messenger email or in ask the school to let us know your child isn’t in. We do work with the school but we are not part of the school.
If your child doesn’t attend you will still need to pay. You are paying for the place not the attendance.
And finally if you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to let us know. If you can’t catch us down at the club, you can contact us any time by telephone or email.
Have a very merry Christmas and new year we will see you all in the new term.

Updated Met Office Extreme Heat Weather Warning

The Met Office has issued a red extreme heat warning for areas of England on Monday 18 July and Tuesday 19 July, including parts of the East Midlands, East of England, London & South East England, North West England, South West England and Yorkshire & Humber. The red warning indicates an exceptional hot spell of weather leading to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure.

The Met Office has also extended the amber extreme heat warning for Monday and Tuesday to cover parts of South West England, West Wales, North West England and southern Scotland. An amber extreme heat warning continues to be in place for parts of England on Sunday 17 July.

We are not advising early years and childcare settings to close. Individual setting leaders are responsible for managing their own local circumstances. They should refer the Emergency Planning Guidance and carry out risk assessments in line with government guidance on looking after children and young people, as well as those in early years settings during heatwaves. This includes the use of ventilation, closing rooms that are too hot, keeping children hydrated, avoiding vigorous physical activity, encouraging children to wear loose, light coloured clothing and sunhats with wide brims, to use sunscreen, and providing them with plenty of water.

Children under 4 years old and some children and adults with complex medical needs and chronic conditions are potentially at a higher risk during periods of extreme heat. Settings are advised to consider actions recommended in Chapter 3 of the Heatwave Plan For England which are based on the best evidence and practice available currently and are not intended to be prescriptive. Settings should carry out risk assessments and amend and adapt procedures in a way which is appropriate for the individual medical needs of the children and adults in their setting.

Visit our Education Hub to find further information on how to stay safe during the heatwave.

Kind regards,

The LA Delivery Team
