📅TELFORD BALLOON FIESTA is on this weekend. Here's some useful information that may help you plan your visit...sit back with a cuppa - it's going to be a long post!
🎈Telford Balloon Fiesta is a wonderful event taking place on 26, 27 and 28 August in QEII Arena Telford Town Park
🎈This is a FREE entry non ticketed event so feel free to come and go as you please.
Some activities are subject to payment on the day so bring some spending money with you if you wish or just come along and soak up the atmosphere and enjoy what the park has to offer
📷 Filming and photography will take place on behalf of Telford & Wrekin Council Council at this event. Any issues with filming please talk to a steward ***
We are expecting around 25 balloons at the event including some wonderful shapes. There are four scheduled flight slots 6am and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday .
Ballooning is weather dependent so things can change and we will update here in the event page should this happen. The weather is looking good at the moment – so fingers crossed. The event will still go ahead as planned even if the ballooning element has to change.
The event programme below gives you an idea of what activities will be taking place throughout the weekend. There is loads to do in and around the Town Park so make time to explore and have fun. More info on what you can do in the park here https://orlo.uk/CvfzR
The roads around Telford Centre are likely to be extremely busy at peak times so please bear this in mind when travelling and we encourage people to use public transport where they can.
Telford International Centre International Way, Telford TF3 4JH
Telford international centre multi storey TF3 4JQ. Cost £6 per car per day.

💡𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐰 build up starting from 8pm
If you are coming to see the night glow on Saturday evening please note ITS LIKELY TO BE VERY BUSY AND AT THIS TIME THE EVENT WILL BE STANDING ONLY IN THE MAIN ARENA there are likely to be queues when leaving the car parks at around 10pm . The main town centre car parks require you to pay for your ticket at the machine before leaving the car park and queues for these machines are going to be long when everyone is leaving at the same time. Please note this is not within our control so please be patient and try to stagger your leaving times.

You are more than welcome to bring your beloved pooches along to the event this weekend but please adhere to the following:
Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times
Please bring sufficient water for your dog. There are dog water stations outside the visitor centre but we cannot guarantee these will always be full.
Please clean up after your dog (scoop the p**p)
Dogs are not permitted in Telford Shopping Centre (unless they are assistance dogs) so if you use one of their car parks please don't walk your dog through the centre. There are footpaths all around the outside of the centre so please walk around to the park.
Please also note that we expect this event to be very busy which can be overwhelming for some animals. Also hot air balloons make very loud noises which can be unsettling so please bear this in mind if bringing your dog as there is a risk they might be upset by the noise levels at this event.
Thanks for staying with us this far.
Thank you to all the lovely parents and children for our amazing presents. Hope you all have a great summer and see you all in September. Good luck to all our children who are moving on to secondary school.
Updated Met Office Extreme Heat Weather Warning
The Met Office has issued a red extreme heat warning for areas of England on Monday 18 July and Tuesday 19 July, including parts of the East Midlands, East of England, London & South East England, North West England, South West England and Yorkshire & Humber. The red warning indicates an exceptional hot spell of weather leading to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure.
The Met Office has also extended the amber extreme heat warning for Monday and Tuesday to cover parts of South West England, West Wales, North West England and southern Scotland. An amber extreme heat warning continues to be in place for parts of England on Sunday 17 July.
We are not advising early years and childcare settings to close. Individual setting leaders are responsible for managing their own local circumstances. They should refer the Emergency Planning Guidance and carry out risk assessments in line with government guidance on looking after children and young people, as well as those in early years settings during heatwaves. This includes the use of ventilation, closing rooms that are too hot, keeping children hydrated, avoiding vigorous physical activity, encouraging children to wear loose, light coloured clothing and sunhats with wide brims, to use sunscreen, and providing them with plenty of water.
Children under 4 years old and some children and adults with complex medical needs and chronic conditions are potentially at a higher risk during periods of extreme heat. Settings are advised to consider actions recommended in Chapter 3 of the Heatwave Plan For England which are based on the best evidence and practice available currently and are not intended to be prescriptive. Settings should carry out risk assessments and amend and adapt procedures in a way which is appropriate for the individual medical needs of the children and adults in their setting.
Visit our Education Hub to find further information on how to stay safe during the heatwave.

Newsletter: December 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
We’d like to introduce Danielle Hayward who is joining us as a playworker from the start of the January term. Dannie has worked in Randlay Primary training to be a teaching assistant and we are very happy to have her on board as a valued team member. You may recognise her from the local Randlay shop where she has worked and lived in Randlay for a long time too.
Danielle will be covering Tasha as she is leaving to go to open another after school club/breakfast club over at HLC Primary School. Tasha will still be part of Rockets working behind the scenes and will be back from time to time to see you all. If any of your children have any worries or concerns, please let us know so we can make this transition as smooth as possible. Tasha will miss al the children very much. Danielle will be coming in this term to introduce herself and meet the children.
We will be working on some Hanukkah -themed crafts this week and later this month will be having a go at making a melted snowman. In the run-up to Christmas, we will be having lots of festive games and activities and will be holding our Christmas party, date to be confirmed.
When collecting your children from club please be mindful of other parents and keep to the 2m rule where you can and wear a mask. If there is a parent in the waiting area, please wait at a safe distance outside until they leave.
We adhere to covid rules set by the government and are constantly being updated with legislation and changing when needed.
Fees and attendance
May we remind you that if your child is sick or absent from school, please inform us on the clubs phone/ messenger email or in ask the school to let us know your child isn’t in. We do work with the school but we are not part of the school.
If your child doesn’t attend you will still need to pay. You are paying for the place not the attendance.
And finally if you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to let us know. If you can’t catch us down at the club, you can contact us any time by telephone or email.
Have a very merry Christmas and new year we will see you all in the new term.
With best regards
