I haven't updated for a while. I'm now back to teaching face-to-face or online according to preference. As a primary teacher with 40 years' experience, I teach maths and literacy (dyslexia specialist) including handwriting. I also teach piano and music theory. Check out my website at www.hgtuition.co.uk!

It feels odd to be at the end of term when many children and teachers haven't been in school for a while. I intend to continue online tuition in the autumn to children who find they need a bit of extra support and confidence. All being well I will be able to offer face-to-face lessons also. I will have a few vacancies for new students, so if you need a chat or I can help your child in any way, do get in touch. To my existing pupils, have a lovely holiday however you spend it.

Over the last few months I've been continuing with literacy and maths tuition, working with pupils safely and remotely. It's been a time of development and new experiences but lovely to see those familiar faces during lockdown! I willl continue to offer virtual lessons for the time being as we wait to see how things transpire. I have some capacity for new pupils if children are in need of extra help.
Piano and music theory lessons continue virtually too and it's great to see students maintaining their motivation and ability. Some students have even found boredom in lockdown alleviated by practising!!

If current students would like to change their day or time for the new term, please message me and I'll do my best to suit you! I can't believe it's nearly September!

I finish my teaching term on 30th June. I'm timetabling new enquiries for September now, so if you know of anyone who is intending to contact me for literacy/numeracy tuition or piano/theory it would be useful to know before the end of my term. I will, of course, be around in the summer holiday if folk need to discuss in more detail.

Looking forward to the new term ahead! As this half term is so short and SATS and assessment looms, I'm teaching as usual on Monday 1st May for those involved.

This is a really helpful article. Food for thought for all of us who teach children with particular needs . . .
Red Line VS Blue Line: How do you help people with Asperger's do things because THEY want to (Not because you are forcing them to)?
When you are a parent of someone with Asperger's, it can often be like pulling teeth to get them to do daily tasks like homework, chores or hygiene, but sometimes even basic things like getting out of bed or going to school can be a giant battle every day.
