Never ever worry about feeding your baby during your Baby Sensory® class.

You are welcome to feed your baby however, wherever and whenever you wish.

It doesn't matter whether you're breastfeeding, formula feeding, combination feeding, feeding sat on the floor, feeding sat on a chair, feeding with a cover-up on, feeding at the start of the class or feeding all the way through the class...

..what's most important is that you and your baby are comfortable and happy ❤️

There are SO many ways you can play with your baby.

You may even be playing with your baby without realising.

Playing with your baby doesn't necessarily have to involve toys.

And it doesn't need to be a planned or prepared activity either.

Playing with your baby might include:

-playing or singing music or nursery rhymes
-reading
-showing your baby props* such as a chiffon scarf, rainbow ribbon or baby safe mirror
-tummy time activities
-splashing in the bath

The most important thing to know is that all types of play will be beneficial to your baby.

*please note that adult supervision is always required when your baby is playing with props and/or toys.

You don’t need to put extra time aside for sensory play with your baby.

Routine activities such as feeding, nappy changing, dressing, bathing, cuddling, carrying and preparing for sleep all provide opportunities for sensory development.

Likewise, any kind of outing including trips to the supermarket, walks in the park, visiting friends and activities such as swimming all stimulate your baby's senses.

Emotional mummy post. Where has that time gone? Who remembers my baby Alfie in class last year at only 4 days old - he graduates this term at 13 months, but look what has just happened.

When will your baby walk?”

The short answer is when they are ready! Babies generally have their own timetables that can’t be rushed.

Some babies walk as early as 8 months and others as late as 2 years, however most take their first steps towards the end of their first year. My boys have walked at 10 months, 16 months, 12 months and then look what happened last night - my very own Baby Sensory baby Alfie took his 1st steps on the eve of turning 13 months - all with the lure of the tv remote control!

Premature babies generally walk later than full term babies of the same age because this skill is usually achieved at the age they would have been, had they been born at term and sometimes later.
If your baby isn't yet walking and you are concerned, talk to your health visitor who will likely be able to reassure you.

Worried about taking your baby to a class because you think they'll sleep through it all?

It really doesn't matter!

Research investigating the brain waves of sleeping infants found that regions associated with sound, motor, visual, and auditory processing still buzzed with activity during sleep.

What's more, researchers at the University of Turku in Finland also found that babies learned language while sleeping. This is because the cerebral cortex continues to function during awake and asleep states in the first year of life!

So whether your baby is awake or asleep for a class (or half and half) they'll still reap the benefits.
