๐ฅ๐ฅBRITISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS๐ฅ๐ฅ
We took a strong but inexperienced team to the nationals in Birmingham over the weekend, a real baptism of fire and we couldnโt be prouder!
Our juniors Nate and Lennon both debuting in the Novice Category (Under five fights), Nate has actually never done an interclub! He had some really strong spells in the fight eventually losing out in the semi finals to a strong lad (4 fights) whoโs edge in experience was the deciding factor. Next up Lennon walked away with a Silver medal after an amazing final again giving away experience, weโve been pushing he lads hard in the gym and both showed with a couple of tweaks they can compete with the best ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Onto the adults who fought with knees and elbows to the head under amateur rules!
First up we had Adam making his debut after dropping an amazing 15kg of weight through the year so far! He drew a strong lad from London in the quarterfinals putting on an absolute clinic in the first round. The second was a lot closer but Adam dug deep and sealed the win in the final round! Onto the semi finals which were just 20 minutes later and really effected his performance, a decent first round Adam had absolutely nothing left in the tank, with the adrenaline dump and short turnaround I retired him between the rounds, heโll live to fight another day and can build on that first amazing performance. ๐ฅ
Next up we had Titan, he drew a very good lad from Liverpool in the quarterfinals, making his debut another absolutely dominant first round he let the second round get away from himโฆ a fantastic push in the third round should of been enough to take the decision but the judges went against us, it doesnโt matter if he won or lost it was an excellent performance from Titan who is only 18 years old and again just the start for him.
Next we had Spike in immediately after Titan, a slow start to his quarterfinal finding his feet in the first round he stepped it up with strong boxing, elbows and knees, securing the win in the second and third against a tough lad from Birmingham. Onto the semifinal against a strong lad from the armed forces Muay Thai team, Spike found his range early stopping his opponent in the second roundโฆ Just 15 minutes later he was back in the ring for the finals against a teak tough fighter from London, choosing to score against the aggressive opponent picking his shots really well taking the first round, second round Spike dropped his opponent who was able to regain composure and came out swingingโฆ the end came with a peach of a punch breaking his opponents orbital bone halting the fight. Fortunately he was back on his feet and off to hospital after treatment from the medics, a fitting opponent for a British Championship final.. congratulations to Spike, British Champion ๐ฅ
Finally we had Aedan in the 86kg category semi final against a good opponent from the south coast. Aedan found his range early scoring with kicks but really found his way in the second and third round with strong dominant clinch, elbow and boxing, forcing the referee to wave the contest off in the third round. Through to the final just 15 minutes later and having watched his opponent also win by KO in the semi final we knew what to expect. Aedan picked his opponent apart with scoring shots and weathered a few bombs to a unanimous points victory! But all credit to his opponent who was very dangerous all the way to the last bell and made for an excellent and fitting final. ๐ฅ
This was a fantastic team effort with everyone in the gym playing their part in the gyms success. We had great support on the day and appreciate all who traveled to cheer on the whole team. Arthur was fantastic in the corner as was Lewis and of course Dani, those two had to leave before the picture so have been added by Seth๐๐๐คฆ
However, we are now back on it with Arthur competing at the Euro Championships in a few weeks in Italy and the home show November 22nd!
